The Silicon Power Sky Share has been given poor reviews for not allowing file upload in WiFi mode. That is totally incorrect. When you connect to the Sky Share with your PC, just follow the instructions to use the web-based User Interface. Go through the setup and on the Home menu you will see an upload icon. Files can be uploaded into the preset folders or folder you create. I had no problem uploading several large .JPG files and documents. It was fast and the files could be seen by another computer instantly. This allows file sharing for editing. The Sky Share is like a local cloud. It is not read only. It is also the only USB 3.0 enclosure I have tested so far that is recognized by Canon Wireless File Transfer adapters for external file transfer while shooting pictures and video. I am conducting an extensive test on portable USB drives for Canon DSLR compatibility and I decided to try this out. I recommend this drive for not only media streamers, but also professionals in need of a portable network. I will update later.

I purchased this Silicon external drive to use with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 tablet. It works great and setup was fast and easy. The only drawback is that I can only have one WIFI connection at a time (which makes sense), so if I'm using the drive, I can't access email or anything else. I have to remember to take my pics off the drive and store them on the tablet before I can email them or post. All in all, it's great and we are able to connect multiple devices at the same time - just like advertised.

If your looking for a 1TB USB external hard drive then this is ok but the WiFi part is in dying need of improvment. First off you MUST install and use the app called Skynet and this app has a lot of limitations. On my iPhone I can't watch movies in landscape mode so watching any movie is almost worthless as screen won't auto rotate. On my Android tablets parts of the app won't work like I can't see my photos, software keeps freezing up or crashes. There is no preview for any file like a thumbnail option. The App needs a lot of work! I ended up returning device.

Although it does specify that this drive is WIFI enabled, it is very weird how it works. You literally have to connect your computer to its own WIFI name, then with your browser you have to go to its internal number (EXAMPLE 192.3.2.3). After accessing that, you can then browse the hard drive's contents that are only put into 3 or 4 pre-made folders. You literally have to "download" onto your computer the contents of the hard drive (if say you want to view a document) in order to get whatever document, music, ect you want to use. This definitely should have been put into the specifications. I thought this (much more) expensive version of a hard drive with WIFI capability would make it where I can have it connect to my home personal WIFI network and be able to transfer data to and from the hard drive by means of my own WIFI. Not the case. You connect the hard drive to your router, but you access the drive through the webpage application. Also, in order to use the internet, you have to connect through the hard drive router which must be connected to your WIFI router, then can access the internet through the hard drive. I only wanted to be able to put my hard drive anywhere I wanted to and have it continually accessible through my own home network (instead of plugging a hard drive into my router for access throughout the house). Did not like this hard drive setup at all. It is a good drive thus far, but will be returning it just as quickly as I had received it. Not what I was looking for. Will return and purchase a hard drive for half the price of this one.

Good device.
But there is one drawback.
When hard drive works in WiFi mode with a computer, the computer is disconnected from the Internet.
It would be nice if the will be developed a program which allows computer simultaneously communication between the WiFi hard drive and WIFI internet.

I recently received this Wifi hard drive from my wife because I have many gadgets around the house, ipad, iphone and android phone. My wife thought this would be a very convenient way for all of my devices to link together. I uploaded some Hi-def movies and some musics on it, and it has been great for me to carry my device around the house and stream movies from it. It has been almost 2 months, and it's running smooth. Recommended.

I got this Wifi hard drive from a friend as a gift. This device can connect to my devices at the same time including my iphone, ipad, android tablets. My family can now share all the music, photo, and videos from just one single hard drive. In addition, the signal is very good as well. I feel the video streaming is very smooth, no lags at all.

This isn't as easy to use as I anticipated from the description and reviews. I used the wireless feature once because it just wasn't that great and the iPhone and iPad app you download to use with it are WAY too complicated for some simple streaming needs. I would invest in another product. I've already retired this to the back of my desk drawer because it's bulky and not all that fast.
