Results & Expectations - Based on Bi-Weekly Treatment Schedule
A typical full hair growth cycle may take 18-24 months. During this time multiple Silk'n Infinity treatment sessions may be required in order to achieve permanent hair removal. The efficiency of hair removal varies from person to person according to body area, hair color and how the device is used.
How often should I use it? Typical hair removal plan during a full hair growth cycle:
Treatments 1 to 4: Two weeks apart
Treatments 5 to 7: Four weeks apart
Treatments 8+: Treat as needed until desired results are achieved
Maintenance: from time to time some upkeep may be needed if growth is still visible.
Why is my hair growing even though I treated it a week ago?
The hair you are seeing after a treatment session may either be hair that was disabled and is now going through the ejection phase or new hair growth that was dormant that is now active and needs to be treated in the next session.
How long should I continue treatment?
Average results are seen after 3 or 4 sessions. What you should start to see are ""bald spots"" or patchiness in the treated area. Maintenance may be required from time to time if you see new hair growth.
Can I shave in between treatments?
Yes. For better results and a better experience, we recommend you shave before and in between treatments. We do not recommend you wax, because the hair shaft will be removed and therefore cannot be treated. Also, do not pluck or tweeze the hair out.
Why does the device sometimes not emit a light pulse?
Always ensure the treatment area is completely flat covering the area you are treating. Lighting may be a factor. Stay away from overhead lights, lamps or windows that allow direct light in which can create a shadow and read your skin tone being dark

I was a bit confused as to who can use this. I feel there was some conflicting information that you can’t use this at all if you have dark or tan skin or if you are fair with pale hair. I have dark skin with dark coarse hair. I’m not sure how much of a difference this makes I’m sure everybody’s situation is different. I gave this a try anyway.
The first areas I wanted to try were my chin and underarms. My chin gets those little stubborn thick hairs 10-15 that I’m tweesing every 4-5 days. After flipping through instructions and watching YouTube videos and reviews (there is a lot of info on this thing out there) I chose to download the app. I highly recommend using this with the app if you can. It has a schedule that’s easy to follow as well as settings recommendations. More about the Silk’n app later.
So I was pretty alarmed that you have to shave your treatment areas before using the Silk’n. If you have shaved before you know the hair usually will grow back more coarse and seemingly quicker. I usually shave the underarms which is a weekly affair. But my chin I have to admit I was mortified. Anyway after getting over it I shaved my chin and underarms. Once the areas was clean and dried I plugged in the Silk’n and opened the app.
Now the apps layout is you have the home page, schedule, products, how to, and settings. The ‘how to’ contains a pdf form of the manual you got with the unit (English instructions on page 48 - you’re welcome) as well a video link for the unit. You choose your treatment areas on the app when you are ready and it sets you up in the schedule.
Apparently the Silk’n Infinity is supposed to have a Bluetooth feature to connect with your phone but I’ve tried multiple times to no avail which makes me wonder what I am missing. 😢😭👎. My other gripe with the app is it doesn’t send notifications to your phone to remind you when you have a treatment.
Anyway back to the treatment. The app recommended I try the 1st setting which is the lowest. On my third, week 6, treatment I’m on setting 3. So it seems to go up each treatment. The most alarming thing that you have to get used to when you use this (besides shaving your face) is the flash is quite bright and makes a sound I would equate to an old school retro camera fitted with a lightbulb. 📸. But once you get use to that you’re fine. The sensation is warm and pleasant, I noticed with the increase of intensity there’s been more of a faint tingle. But there hasn’t been any burns or pain.
At first I didn’t think that this couldn’t possibly work and I would have a beard that I was doomed to shave for eternity. But as weeks and treatments progressed I have noticed the hairs growing back thinner and slower. I do still pluck my chin hairs between treatments but only once a week opposed to the every 4 days I was doing it. My under arms have slowed as well I don’t even shave them in between treatments and wait until I shave them prior to the treatment.
I think this works great if you have the patience it will pay off in the long run. I gave this a four because they need to fix a couple of issues in the app and it’s not exactly clear who can use this product. Otherwise this is amazing and is working. The treatments are extremely quick you can complete the treatment of each area in under 5 minutes. Considering the areas are already clean, shaven, and dry. I’m looking forward to more treatments and swing more results.

I got this for Christmas, so I just finished my 3rd treatment. #1 Dec. 26, #2 Jan. 9th, and #3 today, Jan. 24th.
Results after #2 treatment: My legs look funny because patches of hair are taking to the treatment differently. There are patches of hair that are coming in finer and shorter. There are bald spots on my legs where the hair completely died off after just 2 treatments. Yay! And then about 70% of my leg hair shows no change at all. Growing thick and long, like normal.
I’m guessing each hair folical is at a different stage in the growth cycle. So maybe that’s why I’m seeing 3 different stages of hair growth on my legs.
I have also been using this on my embarrassing chin hair. I’ve been shaving my chin since high school! (I’m 39.) After 2 treatments so far, there’s been no change in my chin hair. My chin hair is dark and super thick. Ugh. I’ll keep going with the treatments and see how that pans out.
I use level 1, and do experience mild pain after using device. Pain goes away within 10 mins, and I do apply lotion after treatment as recommended. (That does help with the pain!)
I will come back and update this review.
Well, I've had this for 2 months now. Thinking and hoping that this would work. NOPE! NOT even close. And since the window for the return closed, I'm stuck with this $400 equipment that's literally useless.
I followed the directions - shaved, spent an hour gliding the item along my leg and flashing the laser. Repeat every 2 weeks. No difference. So annoyed.
The laser treatments in my opinion do work, but there's one catch...Start if you can before any hairs turn white or gray. In essence if you are hairy when you're young start using the laser. It does work as long as you keep up with treating the area.
I started by going to a salon and having my chin and upper lip zapped. Initially it was painful but as the hairs started to diminish the pain was less and less. When I was through, I purchased my own in order to remove hair on my arms and legs. It definitely does work. Occasionally a few stragglers get through, but just take care of them.
I wish I would have started before I began to get some gray hairs or tweezing.
So finally if you have patience it does work!

How it works
--------------------
It uses optical and galvanic energy (according to them, I am not a scientist) to treat the hair root and prevent it from growing back.
In terms of use, there are two methods of using it. Pulsing, for small areas, means moving the device from one section to the next, without overlapping or missing a gap, and pressing the button each time. Gliding, for larger areas, means slowly moving it while holding the button as it disperses treatment ‘pulses’ while you move.
The Silk’n comes with a hard fabric case, the plug and two convertors (for other countries), the manual and a cleaning cloth.

First impression

The manual is not the clearest, it has a lot of warnings and info and while it’s far from the worst manual I’ve seen there is room for improvement. It suffers from too much giant blocks of text and could explain things more clearly by using diagrams, breaking it up a little and even having a step by step smaller ‘usage’ guide to take the headache out of trying to absorb all that information every time. Still, it does give all the information you need so I’ll praise it for that.
Because of all the safety warnings, it is definitely nervewracking, but my first use was not scary at all. On more sensitive areas I did feel a slight warmth and the ‘pop’ noise is quite loud and startling, but there was nothing painful. It was much faster than expected, to the degree that I did my facial hair (note you can only do below cheekbones), underarms and legs all in one sitting. Once you get going, it feels very simple and quick.
Make sure you absolutely do your research and read the whole manual before using this as there are a TON of things that you need to know. Just setting to a random setting and blasting away could hurt you. Do a patch test, start on the lowest setting and make sure you read everything, otherwise you can’t blame the product if you get hurt.
My POC folks out there, I’m so sorry, but this will not work on super dark skintones. Similarily, no matter how pale you are, this will be ineffective on blonde hair. It’s meant for that subset of the population with light to medium dark skintones, who have dark coloured hair.
You also must follow all instructions for it to be effective. Make sure you shave before treatment, if you skip it and the process doesn’t work, again who can you blame but you?
It also comes with an app to set up your treatments. The app feels very dated and not great, it could really use an upgrade, I prefer to use a manual calendar. But you don’t need to use the app at all.
All that being said, below I will describe each treatment as it occurs. So keep checking back if you want to know how effective it was. I’ll add pictures too!

TREATMENT 1
---------------------------
First time, so no noticeable effect yet. Since I shaved before the treatment, I must wait for it to grow back before seeing if I notice less hair. I treated my lower face, arms, lower legs and underarms. I also did my husband’s back since he is far hairier than me and a good test subject.
The treatment itself was painless. I started on the lowest setting of 1 and after completing the patch test, did all the areas listed above. There was no pain and some slight warmth in sensitive areas. Afterwards I experienced no discomfort, skin rawness or anything. I applied lotion as directed.
I did find the Silk’n unit a bit large and hard to hold, but I have been dealing with hand weakness lately. It was tricky to keep a finger on the underneath panel while holding the button. The unit won’t work if you don’t do this, presumably a safety feature. Overall, though, the experience was good, fast and simple. In two weeks, I’ll move onto my second treatment.
---------------------------
TREATMENT 2
---------------------------
It's been about 2 weeks, so I did another treatment. This time I upped the strength to 2. I did feel some mild discomfort and see a little light redness, but mostly on sensitive areas, like my face and underarms. At this stage, my hair hasn't fully grown back (you shave before every treatment), but I already feel like I'm noticing the results.
For example, I have pretty even hair growth, but I feel like it's a lot sparser. What's interesting, is Silk'n says it doesn't work on blonder hair, but I feel my soft blonde hairs are were I've had the best effect and the darker problematic ones are still growing back. Maybe it's because I don't have true 'white-blonde' hair, or that the base of my hairs are darker (definitely possible), but I feel like it's going to take more treatments and a higher intensity to stop the blacker hairs.
I am super impressed so far though I feel like the hair growth is sparser and slower to grow in (is such a thing even possible). I'll do another treatment in 2 weeks.
---------------------------
TREATMENT 3
---------------------------
I turned the strength up to 3 this time (Silk'n recommends upping the strength each time as long as you are comfortable, with my pale skin tone). Again, there was definite warmth (and a bit of a burning smell, maybe my hair wasn't shaved close enough), but no discomfort at all this time.
Looking at the areas I've been using it on, I'm super impressed and decided to raise the rating to five stars. Most of the 'mixed' hair and lighter hairs aren't regrowing. The hair growth is far less dense and rather than being patchy, it's sparse all over on my legs. My underarms are noticeably less hairy, with large sections not regrowing.
It's definitely still struggling with the embarrassing dark PCOS hairs on my chin (I have less than 20 of these), but I feel they will need a harsher zap. It's difficult at this stage not to pluck as they regrow so fast after shaving, but I'm staying the course, I can see it's working!
---------------------------
TREATMENT 4
---------------------------
At this stage on intensity 4, I took a stronger look at my hair levels. Next treatment I will take another photo and finally add the comparison! I can easily see that my leg hair is much more sparse, but I wouldn't be comfortable going out on the street like that! So be aware, this treatment definitely will take time during which you'll still have to shave (but you're doing that anyway, right!?).
Other areas are totally fixed. For example, I had one or two really icky toe hairs (nobody wants to look part-hobbit) that I personally didn't like and those don't grow back at all anymore, they are totally gone.
I do feel the chin and facial areas are taking a little longer than I'd like. While I can see progress in the upper lip, the chin is much slower.
With intensity four, I can definitely smell the burning more and my skin is a little pink afterwards, but still no pain or any kind of severe discomfort or problems. Since I am so pale, I'm surprised I can go up so high and wonder if five might be too harsh.
---------------------------
Treatment 5
---------------------------
Finally onto intensity five, definitely a stronger burning smell and maybe a slight zap feeling (but not enough to cause any real discomfort). At this stage seeing real progress on the chin hair and while leg/body hair is not totally gone, it’s definitely on the way there. Having reached level 5, I probably won’t continue to update this review until a long time passes (maybe a year), but I have attached comparison pics of my hairy leg, so you can see for yourself!
Having used Silk’N Infinity for a reasonable amount of time now, my opinions remain similar to the first time. It clearly works, but it is definitely slow going, so don’t expect miracles right off the bat. You’ll notice sparseness and fineness of hair long before you start to notice bald spots and I recommend you document with pics for when you feel it isn’t working.
It might seem expensive, but considering the cost of professional treatments, this is great for anyone who wants to do it at home, plus you’ll be able to touch up in the future if you notice regrowth. As long as you’re patient and follow instructions, you’ll see results and while I can’t say how it works on darker skin tones, for pale people like me I can definitely recommend it.
