The storyteller also has animals--Goofball the dog--taking to humans and vice versa. This worked in the old fairy tales and fables, but not so well today. It's true in fantasy like Narnia animals and humans communicate, but that is fantasy. In a real-life story like Silly Pants it just doesn't work well. Even Snoopy in PEANUTS doesn't communicate with humans although we see his thoughts. And in the latest Disney hit, FROZEN, as human as the reindeer seems, he never talks to humans. You'll find this is true in most, if not all, of modern children's stories and movies.
Yet, Lynda Raymond has a lot going for her and I believe she's going to keep improving and make a very good children's author. There is something gentle in her storytelling and attractive. That's why I explore the above so much so it will encourage her.
Thank you so much!!
Ms. Raymond knows her target audience. Provides a nice interlude to the little ones.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it's just the right length for this age group, finishing just before the attention span gives out. The author clearly knows her target audience well.
I enjoyed watching my 5 year old nephew giggle out loud as he read the funny names of the characters.
Highly recommended for your kids.
