I bought mine in 2009 and now in 2022, it's still great and I use it a couple of times per week at least. I am finally ordering another one since the original seems to have a couple of lines where it looks like it could split. However, I have to blame my own actions for that. Rather than rolling the thing up like it should be, mine got routinely folded to fit in a drawer and over time, it's damaged the fiberglass threads inside. This has only happened on fold lines. There's a slight bit of yellowing to the overall mat, but not that you'd notice unless looking at another one next to it.

I use this for rolling out and kneading dough, cutting biscuits and as a hot plate for pans coming out of the oven. Then throw it in my farmer's one bay sink where I can scrub and rinse it, then throw it over the back of a chair back to dry.

Now even though I'm getting a new one, I won't likely be tossing the old one anytime soon as it is still quite functional. I just don't want to be without one and the price happens to be right at the moment, $5 less than I paid for it 13 years ago.

Singlehandedly Saved My Counter - Love it!

If you like baking or cooking and have never tried a Sil-Pat, do yourself a favor and grab one of the little half-sized ones to give it a try. True Sil-Pat products are a godsend because they're basically like a rubberized (silicone, more accurately) piece of parchment paper/cling wrap that can do a TON during prep, not the least of which is keeping stuff off of your counter.

In a nutshell, I lost all of my pasta making equipment in a home robbery. My husband got me a replacement Sil-Pat (great for laying out noodles fresh out of the pasta machine so they don't get tangled/sticky) but didn't look at the size. The one I had before was basically the size of a regular cookie sheet, this one is BIGGER and actually won't fit in my wall oven, at least not without folding some corners under. At first I was bummed, but then I realized how AMAZING it is when I'm rolling out semolina dough! I can pull up one edge and then the other to sandwich the dough, effectively kneading the dough through the stickiest stages right into the velvety stage that doesn't stick to every square inch of my hands. It looks a little weird, but it works SO WELL I don't think I'll ever go back to getting my hands dough'd up. No flour stuck to my counters, I just rinse it and chuck it on the top rack of my dishwasher and voila - ready for duty again.

If you have a sil-pat kicking around, you never have to worry that you've run out of parchment paper, or worry about getting into a cooking project that will leave your counters a mess - just spread out this industrial-size model and enjoy prep work again. :)

I chose this rating because: 1) it arrived incredibly fast, and 2) does a great job on granite. i do not use it for baking (I have baking sheets in silicon), I use it for shock resistance on my granite counters. i keep two mats; one near the stove/coffee maker and the other in my prep area often used under my Toaster Oven. I like quiet counters! they clean up beautifully with a quick rinse of the dish water, if needed at all, and I just hang them overnight on the oven handle or dish towel rack when i want my counters cleared. I also liked this color on my black granite in stead of those bright colors and the fact that they sort of "stick" in place and don't slide around the counter. The last thing I want with a hot pot full of boiling potatoes is for the counter mat to slide away and I don't like setting the pots on the counter regardless of whether or not the granite can take it. I had to go on-line for the bigger size that I use in a pass-through to the dining room but I would have liked it even more if it had come in the dark brown border instead of the light brown/orange tone border. Still, the performance is just what i wanted.
One caution - some people might forget that they are NOT cutting mats/boards. I do not use them as such.

Silpat, you need to come up with a "counter saver" in this style!

I love to roast veggies and I cook sheetpan meals frequently, so I feel much better about using this the mat than I did when I was throwing away balls of foil twice a week. After perhaps two months of use I would say this is for sure a splurge-worthy choice. I plan to eventually get a second set for baking.

Wow, if you bake bread...this thing rocks! I don't know why I waited so long to buy one. It's about 3/4ths the size of my kitchen island, and as a bonus surprise, it fits the enormous baking tray that came with my oven almost perfectly. I love making pizza dough (and any dough, really) because I don't have to add ridiculous amounts of flour these days to keep the dough from sticking to my work surface, and it saves a lot of time and mess in the clean-up process. I was also able to make incredible shortbread cookies (using plastic cookie-cutters designed for Play-Doh) for the first time last week. The mat made it easy to get a spatula under the shape and onto the cookie sheet. My children also love this for rolling out their Play-Doh or play dough (whichever we have on hand), and again, it keeps the tabletop clean and, just as importantly, the dough stays clean, too. I will be ordering several more of various sizes so the kids can have their own for play, and I want an emergency spare in case something happens to this mat. Such a cool item...very, very highly recommended.

We had purchased cheaper silicone baking liners in the past. The cheap liners did not stay flat when baking.
