UPDATE (October 2, 2015): I purchased 95 1-Strand Paracord Type 1 to fashion a lanyard for this compass. The cord fits the lanyard attachment hole perfectly. I highly recommend it.
I think the hole for the cord could be larger, but a key ring takes care of that.
10/6/2014 Update... both of the Silva compasses I have bought in the last two years now have pea-size bubbles in them and can slightly affect accuracy. Neither one has had dramatic change in altitude (only a few hundred feet is possible in Indiana).
9/16/2015 Update... Pulled out my Explorer 203 and the bubble has grown to nearly 1/2" in diameter (0.46" says the calipers). The capsule is clearly leaking - not altitude related. I'm contacting Silva to see if they will replace it. Will update if I can find the Starter 1-2-3 (my son had it).
10/16/2015 Update... Got an email from Johnson Outdoors, or rather an order confirmation form for $0.00 with no other explanation. After three weeks or so I emailed back to see when it would arrive and the answer was that they are out of stock until the end of November. Good news is they are replacing my compass. Bad news is I won't have it for hunting season.
11/3/2015 Update... New Explorer compass arrived from Johnson Outdoors. Bought a Suunto M-3 NH in the mean time.
