Puck Redhouse spent fourteen months in jail to protect the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. There was never any question for him, he would die to protect his brothers a little time in prison was nothing. When he was free though it was time to get his reward for his loyalty, full membership and a party including lots of booze and beautiful women for Puck to get lost in that is when he laid eyes on Becca Jones. She was sweet and innocent soft in all the right places exactly the fantasy girl that kept him sane while he was away. Little did he know his attraction would nearly cause him to go back to prison and having had a taste of Becca he would never be the same. He rescues her, protects her, loves her from a far but in the end he knows he won’t be able to live without her. Now all he has to do is convince Becca that he is the man she needs.
“You need to get this straight, Becca.” Puck said slowly. “You’re mine. You seem to think that’s still up for debate- it’s not.” I’ve claimed you and the club agreed. That’s how it works in my world. End of story.”
Once again, Joanna Wylde hits it out of the park with this first installment of her new Silver Valley series. Though the book does have plenty of hot bikers to keep our hearts pounding, the new characters she introduces us to as the residents of Silver Valley promise to take us on a wild ride.
In this book, we get to know Puck Redhouse who we met in Reapers Stand. Puck and Painter serve fourteen months together and they develop a strong bond. I have to say the prologue seriously starts with a bang, my mouth literally dropped open at the end. Joanna really knows how to get a reader hooked.
"Like she was dancing through life to some song nobody else could hear. Never met another woman like her-she wasn't just sexy, she was a survivor and I admired that."
This book is dark, gritty and violent at times, Becca’s situation is not a good one when we meet her. Puck saves her and she starts a new life in Callup, Idaho, he watches out for her from a far but leaves her to her life. However, when Becca needs him Puck is there to lend a hand though this time it’s on his terms. He knows she is attracted to him they certainly have a history but she’s skittish Puck is a big bad biker. Becca’s experiences with biker’s have not been good ones. Puck has his work cut out for him throughout the book convincing her that he is the one she should spend her life with, but Becca wants to live a normal life not an “MC” life like her mother. Becca has a temper and when she and Puck fight its explosive, anticipate hot angry sex.
“I like playing rough Becca you push as hard as you want.”
Puck stole my heart in Reaper’s Stand I liked him then and I loved him in Silver Bastard, he has a dirty mouth and a dirtier mind I loved it. Becca was a broken young girl who turned into a strong young woman but her scars ran deep and it would take a lot of healing for Becca to be able to let a man in. She had a hard enough time letting her friends in, Danielle does a good job of breaking Becca’s barriers I really liked her. I loved the characters of Blake and Danielle and I hope we get to see more of them in the series. The other characters of Silver Valley, we meet like Shane and Rourke had me wondering what their deal is can’t wait to get their stories.
Its not an easy road for these two passionate, sometimes angry characters to get together. The story was an up and down emotional journey. Becca’s mom is a psycho and puts that poor girl through so much pain I wanted to stab her myself.
Some of our favorites from the Reaper MC books show up like Picnic and London. Painter is having a huge crisis when it comes to Melanie. I never thought I would want Painter’s story but Joanna made me love him.
When I read a Joanna Wylde book, I always know I will get a full story with characters that jump off the page. These groups of people in Callup, Idaho are no exception. I anxiously anticipate more from them.
The action in Joanna’s stories keeps you on the edge of your seat. Words like thrilling, exciting and non-stop drama run through my head as I read her books. Her female characters are strong and sometimes a little crazy. Her male characters are alpha protective to a fault, gritty no nonsense type guys that hook you in and don’t let go.
This turned out to be an excellent start to a new Joanna Wylde series, Fathomless is next I believe and if the bonus epilogue in Silver Bastard is any indication it will be a damn good story.
RECEIVED AN ARC FROM NETGALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW
Joanna Wylde is like magician, when you start reading her book,it's like some spell is put on you and you can't stop from the first till the last page!
Silver Bastard is in the rank of Reapers MC books, raw, gritty, hot relationship, great base story, characters with whom you can connect, understand their inner thoughts and fights, simply flows like a water, with bends on the road, but in the end you have something real, fantastic thing that stays with you.
Puck & Becca are main characters, two stubborn people, and there is something special between them from the first moment they met,but it will take five years their paths to connect again in one.For some decisions taken by the Becca, can be understood why, sometimes, there is a small spark of hope that just does not want to extinguish despite all the things that you see and you've passed in your life, but in the end she will make the right decision for herself and Puck.
And for the fans of Reapers MC,we have little glimpses of our favorite characters from that series :)
It was a delight to read this story,to read about the connection between them, fighting with their passion and to find their common path :)
And the epilog is so,so wonderful, also there is bonus epilog, but for who will be,it remains on your to discover when you decide to read this book.
Prepare for another phenomenal story of Joanna Wylde!

All I can say is, "WOW", Joanna has done it again! This entire series, yes I know its not directly part of the Reapers books, has been a wild roller coaster ride. What Joanna does so well is the ability to start and finish a story without devastating cliffhangers, and without leaving her "junkies" and readers with unanswered questions about the main characters.
Puck and Becca were both complex and well developed. We see them grow in age, maturity, and intellect. I like that their relationship was slow to build even though the desire and tension were always there. I am sure the slow progression had a lot to do with Puck's guilt but I also think he needed the time to grow and settle into being a full patched in Silver Bastard versus the 21 year old man he was when he met Becca.
Becca needed that 5 years away from Puck to wrestle with and settle her own demons. The fact that she survived being raped by her own step father and then pimped out by him and her mom before she was even 16 is a miracle in itself. She needed to be able to stand on her own, be independent, and get back up when she fell without Puck's help. Sure he watched her from a distance making sure she was safe but all in all she worked hard, went to school, and made her own decisions. Her confidence and self worth grew, and she needed those things in order to take on Puck's hard and domineering personality. He was, for the most part, emotionally unavailable and somewhat detached and she was physically and mentally scarred. Yet, they both tried to be there for one another and endured the good, the bad, and the ugly, and came out of it together and in love.
I really loved this couple, then again, I love all the couples in the stories. Becca also didn't get on my nerves which is a big bonus in my book. I don't like it when the females are these meek little women that need protection and a savior in order to feel whole and complete. She was able to hold her own and stand up for herself when she needed too. I also really loved that Puck came out of his shell a bit, and showed Becca how he felt for her. He pursued her, and does the best he could, to be a good old man and dad to their kids:)
Now - what the hell is going on with Painter and Mel??? They have a kid together, Izzy, and that blew my mind. I know his book comes out in November so this will be explained but the curiosity is drowning me. All I can say is that I was not expecting that information but lets roll with it then. Its obvious that Painter has changed a lot since his days as a Reaper prospect, and going back to Jail again has hardened him.
Also - I cannot wait for Rourke and Shane's book! I know Lola is going to be the love interest for Rourke, and I like that he seems a bit off his rocker especially for being so young. Its great to see that even when new characters are introduced the stories and plots never get redundant and we get updates on the previous ones, as well. This keeps things fresh and doesn't get boring.
Finally - I just have to say that Joanna is not only a fantastic writer but she truly tries to connect with her readers and values their opinions. I highly recommend that anyone who isn't a "junkie" should become one. Enjoy!
