From the Author

I hope that you enjoy this book! While this is NOT a history book, I also hope that your interest is aroused in history. In a fun and entertaining way this novel contains several references to actual people and events to which I have put my own fictional twist. I would like to challenge you to find where I have twisted truth with fiction because you just might be surprised. Feel free to contact me through my website, blog, or facebook with your thoughts about this book or history. My hope is that you will never accept just one source as the only source of information because there are two sides to every coin.

Do you believe in reincarnation? I don't, but I admit it can make for an interesting story. Silver Knight was a fun present day story that took you back to the past several times for a lot of nice historic tidbits as we get a glimpse of each warrior of the lights past lives.

Diana, has lived with nightmares of herself being killed over and over in horrible ways. She never understood why she had these dreams until she recognizes a priest on YouTube that she has seen in one of her dreams. Now she is convinced that she has lived out a life more than once and that killing demons is her job. Compelled to go to New York before heading to Rome, her and her two friends meet up with a few other warriors. Each of these warriors have had some very historical backgrounds.

Alex is a demon from Diana's past, we learn from her dreams that he kills Diana over and over in some horrible ways. He is absolutely ruthless, but he is also in love with Diana. Talk about some big romantic problems. When Diana meets Alex this time he swears he doesn't want to kill her anymore, but she just is not sure he can be trusted.

Even though Diana and Alex are the main characters the other warriors have a lot to do with what is happening, and the author gives them each a chapter so we can get to know them a little bit, there is Helen, David, Sol, and Jarret. Each I am sure we will learn more about as the series grows.

This first book I can tell is the builder for what is to come and because of this at times it feels like I didn't get to know Diana and Alex like I would have liked. Alex, doesn't come into the picture till later in the book, but from the little bit of a cliffhanger ending I know he will be a big piece of the next book.

The young and young at heart will enjoy this novel about Diana, who has lived through many reincarnations. Heroes of the past and demons blend with history, action, and adventure. Reading this was a pleasure and I enjoyed doing some Internet research just to make sure my memory of historical events hadn't completely faded. Some twists and quirks should make you curious.

Silver Knight is a fast-paced historical adventure that will take you on a journey through time in an intelligent, never boring way. Relatable and endearing, Diana is the teenage, demon-slaying heroine who rarely sees her thirtieth birthday, and Alexander is her love interest who is the instrument of her death each time. Tall, dark, and handsome, he runs the gamut from utterly merciless to devastatingly sweet, always with just enough sadness in his personality to elicit sympathy. Written for the YA market, the author cleverly sneaks in a history lesson with each jaunt through time, from ancient Greece, to Augustan Rome, to the Titanic. Rider sets the scene for each stop on her characters' trips through history with enough detail to make it believable while shrewdly witholding just enough information to make the reader want more. And you will want more!

Caron Rider's, "Silver Knight," constitutes book one in the Silver Series. Diana, the lead character is an unfortunate soul, either gifted or cursed to hop scotch through time with the dubious job of hunting and killing demons wherever they are found. Inexorably drawn to important times in history, and generally being victimized by them, she is helped and sometimes hindered by the very entities that she hunts. The story bounces back and forth through historical events, telling them in such a way that the reader is challenged to determine how much is truly fact and how much is fiction. Caron's descriptions are rich and thick with environmental backdrops that both add and give motivation to the story. The back and forth method of storytelling has been one of my personal favorites through my life, so this book appealed to me both at the intellectual and the emotional levels.
Aided by her friends, Sam and Maggie, Diana's life almost comes across as a parody when compared to theirs. The result is a fresh approach to good vs. evil, light vs. dark, where the line drawn between them becomes faded and sometimes lost. In the end you're not sure who to root for, proving that truth and following the light is not as easy as it looks. I genuinely had a good time reading this book and look forward to the second installment. Great job Caron!

I love the story line of Silver Knight and can not wait to read the next book in the series. The history is what made it an exceptional read for me! I love history and love the way Caron Rider weaved historical truth in with her story line and characters! Very creative!!! Although this middle aged adult enjoyed it very much, I think this book would be a fantastic read from Pre-teen to young adult! Maybe open young minds to the love of history a little more and the desire to look into the factual events to compare them with Ms. Rider's fact/fiction layering!

Silver Knight was a very enjoyable read. I liked the characters and was able to become invested in their journey. The world building was believable and overall a fun new look at the ancient belief of reincarnation. It was also rich in history with a twist of the what ifs thrown in to peak your curiosity regarding the actual events. The synopsis gives a good overall picture of the storyline and I will not restate these points. One thing that bothered me was the age of the characters; example - they are going into their senior year of high school and still minors, but were able to hop on a plane and travel to Rome without the parental units being aware for one reason or another. I think had the characters perhaps just graduated and were beginning college it would might have been more believable. In my imagination I pictured the characters a little older and that made this read more satisfying. Overall I felt Silver Knight was a good story that ends with a surprise that leaves you wanting to know what happens in the upcoming installment.
I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.
