About the Author

Suzanne Bratcher lives in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. A passionate reader from her first encounter with the adventures of Dick and Jane, Suzanne wanted to grow up to be Louisa May Alcott. Because she liked school, to support her writing, Suzanne became an English teacher, beginning her career as a middle school teacher and finishing as Professor Emeritus at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. In addition to professional articles and her two textbooks about the teaching of writing, Suzanne has published short stories and poetry in a variety of journals. Since leaving teaching, Suzanne has been writing mysteries and romantic suspense for the Christian market. The Copper Box, her debut novel, won the coveted American Christian Fiction Writers "Genesis" award in 2013. Paul Russell and his son Scott continue to move on with their lives, while Paul's relationship with Marty Greenlaw barely hangings on. The author gives wonderful descriptions geographical descriptions of Arizona while educating us about the mining and its history in the area. The story slowly moved along until the last third of the book. I enjoyed Ms. Bratcher's first book The Copper Box more.

I began reading Suzanne Bratcher’s “The Silver Lode” and could not put it down until WAY too late in the evening! The second in the Jerome Mysteries series, the story continues with historian Paul and antiques dealer Marty through not only relationship and professional trials, but also a seventy-year-old cold case that just may point to murder and the discovery of an elusive silver lode, which I learned about while reading this book! Will the idea of a ready-made family and the age difference between Paul and Marty be too much for young Marty to overcome in order to follow her heart? Was Manuel Reyes murdered, or did he run away and disappear? There’s so much more to this story, and I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say this: READ IT! You’ll be so glad you did!
I was given an advance copy of this book to read, but a purchased copy is now on my Kindle, and I plan to read it AGAIN!

Set in an interesting and beautiful part of the country--Arizona, The Silver Lode has many elements to make a good novel...mystery, romance, history, and suspense. The characters rely on their faith in God to lead them in their lives and to their happily-ever-afters. Friendship and family are important themes in this story.
