K.L.Bone takes you back with flash backs to the battle of the Muir Court and that lawful day. You learn more about how the battle came to be and how the Black
Rose won the battle. As you learn how it went from start to finish, there is a lot of jaw dropping occurrences. Surprise after surprise as the battle takes place. Then the confession to Edward hundreds of years later.
You find out who Sandra is and that in it's own self is jaw dropping in it's self. How?, Where was she? ,and How did she survive?, are some of the unanswered questions still left about her. I'm sure down the line we will learn more about Sandra. You also find out who the Sliver Rose is connected to.
Mara make some uneasy decisions for her troops that have them questioning what is going on. Jake is made the Caption of the Black Rose and Sara is made the co-Caption. Why? Where is Mara going? Is she giving up The Black Rose?
And the best part, if you can call it the best, Mara makes a deal with Mathew and Edward isn't to happy about it. But this has been coming for a long time and I can't wait to read about this fight. I will be cheering Mara on all the way.
So as I conclude this review, I look forward to the next book of this series. K.L. Bone is one very talented author. To be able to write a story or in her case stories with flash backs that draw you in even more then the actual story of that particular book, is absolutely amazing. Until the next book!
First off, we have solved a few mysteries in this book. Why Sandra effects the blood rose, when Edward and Mara first had sex 🤗, and one question I've been asking myself since book one, how Phillip died. The latter was enough for me to close this book satisfied!
I started this series because I fell in love with Mara. She's a bad ass even in love. Since then I have begun falling for other characters. With the way the story concluded, and given the title of next in the series, I have a funny feeling the story will soon have us falling in love with Sandra and Regald.
The book was very educational on the past. Things we didn't know come to light. Things I never expected were shared too. The present story took several steps forward since the night Mara poisoned Edward, but not too far.
This, by far, was another success by Bone. I don't know how she does it, but every time she draws me in and I'm forced to read the book from cover to cover as quickly as I can.
Bone has always had an elegant way of taking us from crying to angry to suspended in anticipation and Silver Rose is no exception. I was told, "this is the darkest one, yet." I took this with a grain of salt. I've been told by other authors is/her story is the darkest. Oh boy...I should not have undermined the declaration! This is truly the most thrilling, event-filled installment. The sword play whisks you away until you find yourself leaning to one side, or cringing in pain felt for the character. I got so lost in the sword play, the rest of the word did not exist in those breathtaking moments.
But don't fret, all is not dark. There is a romance burning bright. Our hearts are torn, mended, held with love and tortured. I found myself in tears while being so incredibly angry. It takes a great writer to get me emotionally invested in characters. I am a beta reader and editor. I read a lot of books. The Black Rose series is by far one of my escapes from the world! I cannot believe how invested I am with the characters.
Just remember, only the roses know all pasts...we surely don't. But it may not be the past you need to worry about. Sometimes, the very present we take a breath of reprieve from may be the breath that chokes everything you think you know. The revelations and secrets are scandalous and dark. All I can say is...you have ben warned!
