An essential tool for repairs to all systems & games that require this tool!

This tool is the absolute best link to properly cleaning games as it opens up ALL NES (8-BIT), SUPER NES (16-BIT), & NINTENDO 64 games. It opens all of the NES, SUPER NES, & NINTENDO 64 systems. These tools provide the insight to see what trouble may be with the games making sounds when you shake them. It might be a piece of plastic broke off inside a game or maybe in like in one case for me a piece of the circuit board was actually broke of inside. Without the tools to SEE what is happening inside the game, you just wouldn't know & if the game is hard on it's own to play & later freezes up before the game is finished, then that means because you didn't know the circuit board had a small piece broken inside that that was why you couldn't win the game. Alot of people do not realize that these cartridge run games will function even with a broken piece of circuit board. Eventually it does freeze up & prevets further play because the piece of broken board could not be accessed. These tools also aid you in cleaning the games & systems as well. When they are opened up you are sure to find everything from dust, dirt, dried spit, pop, fingerprints, oil, & even infestations of bugs such as cockroaches & spiders, possibly from a previous owner who had roaches or left the system in their basement over time. It all stops here with these very essential tools to clean & repair the items. Alot of people have the ¨not so brilliant¨ idea to use alcohol or other such chemicals on the games, BUT THAT IS NOT a good idea. Chemicals are just about as harmful as their minor causes (all mentioned above). People ought to be smart enough to know that all chemicals will, OVER TIME, eat away at even the toughest surfaces especially rubbing alcohol. Believe what you want, but people who use such chemicals often more than not, then wonder some day why the game stopped working all together. The game it tough & might take a good chemical beating over time however eventually in a year or two or three or whenever, you will most likely experience total game failure. It depends how often the game is/was cleaned with a chemical. Amazingly enough, the best solution for cleaning the games is mild dish detergent & water. Get a nintendo cleaning kit, use the dish soap & rinse using the same part as you do to wash it, & dry it thoroughly afterwards using the dry side of it. Then of course there is an alternative to the nintendo cleaner. Cotton swabs work well to wash, rinse, & dry in a pinch (WITHOUT THE ALCOHOL). I really hope this helps you. I highly recommend these tools to all who really appreciate these cartridge run systems as much as I do!

Surprisingly good quality & works great for a GameCube

As a specialty screwdriver I did not expect these to be so good. I bought a secondhand GameCube and did not think the amount of dust my air compressor blew out of it while sealed was possible. I knew I'd have to order a game-bit to ensure the inside was properly clean so it wouldn't over heat, through amazons cheap bundle shipping these arrived within 3 days, they easily gripped the screws deeply recessed in the GameCube case with no play, and loosened them with ease. they feel like they will last a long time, however just in case I did find replacement screws that had Phillips heads and identical threading at Home Depot for $1.08, only as a precaution, in-case the screws themselves strip or these get stolen or lost, I do not expect these drivers to fail. If I ever need another specialty tool I'll check Silverhill Tools website to see if they offer one

I've used for several game carts and had no issues at all. I think some folks that complain of stripping either the tool or the cart screw are dealing with unusual situations. These are usually old carts we're dealing with and you must be aware that someone before us may have mangled the screw heads by not using proper tools. Also, while using a security screw-driver is not rocket science it is possible to bungle it up by not getting the head of the tool seated well and completely on the screw prior to going away at it. I'm not saying anyone in particular has done that, just trying to remind folds that some of the time a bad review is related to the user and not the product.

These seem to work okay in general for all the various Nintendo systems I've tried them on. I needed the smaller size to replace some Game Boy cartridge batteries and it worked fine. I also like that they stay small in diameter for the whole length of the driver for times when they need to reach pretty far down into a particular device.

The only complaint was using these to get into my Virtual Boy. They did the job, but none of the screws felt very secure as they were turning, and kept coming loose every couple rotations. It felt like after opening/closing the unit a few times either the screws or the driver would start to get stripped down due to the less-than-perfect grip. But they still helped me fix my VB, which I am very happy about. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need to open it again any time soon.

Definitely worth the price to have these around when you need them, since it's hard to find this type of bit at any local stores. But I do wonder if there might be a better set out there that gives me a more snug fit on the Virtual Boy's 4.5mm screws.

These are very good tools and work very well. They feel solid in your hand rather than if you had just bought the bit and put it in a magnetic screwdriver holder. They also have a slight magnetism to them so when you pull out the screw you won't drop and lose it, and these screws on SNES cartridges are very tiny and easy lose them easily if not careful.

I have used these to open my SNES console, SNES games, Super Famicom, Super Famicom games. They basically work on anything Nintendo.

These work great for opening SNES and Genesis games. Just be gentle while you're unscrewing things. Most older games have never been opened for cleaning before. I noticed some people saying these screwdrivers just stripped apart and wouldn't work. You have to be gentle when unscrewing older things, that have never been taken apart. I do feel the construction could be a little sturdier, but these are cheap as dirt, so that's what you're getting. Take your time, get a good grip on the screws and unscrew gently. I haven't had any problems with mine yet. I've opened and cleaned out about 50 games. Recommended!
