Number one it is very wide, in fact it is wide enough that it kept me from putting my video card a HIS Ice-Q2 7970 in the first PCI-E x16 slot. I did however install it in the second PCI-e x16 without any trouble and no hit in preformance. If I decide I want to run a pair of cards I'll have to find a different cooling solution.
The second issue is that it covered up two of the RAM slots one one each side of the processor. The 1866 RAM I wanted to use had a slightly higher heat sink and it wouldn't fit under the cooler. I took the other kit that consisted of 4 x 4GB DDR 3 2133 RAM which had slightly lower heatsinks and they did fit and will run at 1.65 volts. I installed all four DIMM's and when I started the computer the loaded at a default value of 1600 and even running in quad-core channel mode. I went and set the board to run them in XMP mode and so far have had no issues. The cooler is keeping my system at around 30 degrees celsius and it hasn't gone over 60 degrees celsius with a full load.
One issue that could be easily fixed is that the fan doesn't have anything on it to tell you which way the air flows from it (many have an arrow showing which way it blows). I had to turn it around so it was blowing to the rear of my system.Read more ›
I run a fx-8350 at 4.73GHz, with all power saving features enabled at 1.48V and my temps are 52c with ambient room temps of 21c which gives an incredibly low delta of 31!!! Which is amazing.
This cooler has another amazing feature that I desperately needed. My Gigabyte MB is defective in that the MOSFET overheats in Prime95 even at stock clocks. So I needed a cooler that would be able to blow air directly on it. Thankfully the 140mm fan that pushes 171 cfm is right on it!!! Temps on my mosfet used to be 105+c and the system would lock up. Now they are a cool 77c max in stress testing, which is great!
One thing to note. You may not get all of the same temps as me, as I found this cooler hilariously mispriced ($34) on amazon and bought two. I then took the fan from one and put it on the other, so I have two of these bad boys on one heatsink. Works beautifully, I would HIGHLY recommend this cooler to anyone as long as the price is <$65. If it is higher though, then you could get the noctua nh d14 which will be a lot quieter with the same performance.
Just a last note, when the fan is set to performance mode, if the pwm is set above ~65% it starts to get LOUD and if set to 100%, it sounds like an R9 290 reference cooler.

This is a nice cooler. It keeps the temps on my oc'd A10-6800k under 60 degrees c. It can get a little loud with the fan on performance mode. But that is at a high rpm. Read morePublished on September 16, 2013 by Eric Devilbiss
This thing is heavy and seems pretty solid for a heatsink which cool my CPU well. However, it is not fingerprint resistance. Read morePublished on August 23, 2013 by Ng W.
