"Simian's Lair" is an e-edition book by author David H. Burton. This in a Kindle only 270 Kb download.

This short work is a fantasy adventure children's book that is meant to appeal to the 9-12 age group. It could also be read by an adult to a younger age group, but keeping in mind there maybe some areas of this work that may be a little scary for small childern.

This story features a group of orphan children (each with their own unique martial skills), a couple of strange adult (mages?) who have taken it upon themselves to rid the 'Unknown Manor' (more aptly know as Simian's Lair') of its evil infestation. The book is well written, full of action and mysterious goings on. There are several battles with the 'weepers' and a sinister snake by the name of Sinistral before the good guys emerge victorious. Deaths scenes although tense and exciting are not particularly gory or graphic in their descriptions. Killings are usually described as dispatches or cutting down etc.

In addition there is an incredibly detailed, color map on the Kindle App for the IPad (black and white on a Kindle e-reader)...obviously there are more tales to come in the Land of Verne.

Also a personalized e-version of this book is available where a childs name could be substituted for one of the minor characters in the story. How impressive would that be to a young reader!

A child's story...well told with lots of action and not too dragged out. Probably the perfect combination for the intended age group. 5 Stars.

I bought the book for my grandson but he didn't really enjoy it. Probably was more complicated for his reading style.

The book simians lair was good but just simply too short. I would have liked to have seen more character development and a thicker plot.
