I have found this book to be very helpful in my attempts to feed myself and my family more healthy foods. The recipes are great, but the information and cooking tips are what I love best. I can find out how to cook a new vegetable that I just got at the farmer's market, or how to make a healthier version of my family's favorites like hamburger soup or fresh biscuits. It's like having a friend in the kitchen to give you advice and encourage you. Practical and easy to read too! Includes tips on cooking healthy for children as well. Makes a great gift for a friend or family member.

Sondra Lewis and Dorie Fink have combined their years of healthy cooking to make a delicious collection of recipes. It is so easy to find ideas for how to prep the produce from my farmers market with this book, as well as delicious ways to make traditional recipes more healthy. My family has responded well to the meals and snacks I have cooked from this book...a great help to getting more vegetables and fiber into our diet!

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
With a cookbook, I usually go straight to the recipes. But the first few chapters here are worth reading--lots of good, basic information on nutrition, condensed and carefully thought through. And it's written in a friendly tone--no guilt trips. That's the 2nd thing I appreciate about the book--the suggestion to try little things, one at a time, rather than trying to revamp your lifestyle overnight.
