Dana is an expert who clearly knows what she's talking about, and she manages to put her message across in an engaging, entertaining way. It's easy to read, but not at all patronizing or 'preachy' - Dana talks to you like your own best friend, sharing her knowledge with real enthusiasm and a genuine desire to help her readers avoid unnecessary injuries, illness and distress.
The book's full of interesting anecdotes and practical tips - and Dana's very good at explaining why you should or shouldn't do certain things, in a way that makes perfect sense. For example, it includes one of the best explanations I've ever come across about the need to warm up and cool down before and after exercise, and how to do this in such a way that it's not just a chore.
This book's a very enjoyable read and also a great reference tool. It's well laid out, easy to dip into if you want to check on something specific, and there's a handy summary of all the main points at the end of the book.
I strongly advise you to read this before you join a gym, start a new diet or exercise regime or hire a personal trainer!
Safety is a huge concern and the number one thing people should consider before starting any form of exercise so I'm thrilled that Dana has addressed all of our concerns in this fabulous book of hers. Thank you so much Dana for being interested enough to learn this yourself and then inform us all of what we should be aware of before starting any exercise program.
I know the next time I step into a gym I'm going to have all the knowledge I need. I'll no longer feel intimidated and I'll definitely be able to ask the right questions. Thank you for all the hard work you've put into this for us Dana. Great job and a wonderful read.
