"What this book lacks in hype and nonsense it makes up for in information that is simple, easy to understand, actionable, and livable. So if you're looking for the latest "get ripped" quick scheme or other hucksterism, this book may not be for you."

"Very enjoyable. A bit of talk about getting back to a "primal" lifestyle and how you can do it."

S. Lundquist (Amazon Review)
"This well-written book covers it all--what to eat, how to move, and which supplements are beneficial--from the unique perspective of a guy who solved his own health problems and who used to be a special agent for the FDA."
Lolo G. (Amazon Review)
"The author breaks everything down in simple steps and covers a lot of ground from nutrition, medication, fitness and stress. Very well researched and easy read for non experts."
LZ (Amazon Review)
"His book provides attainable goals that are straightforward in which you can start the same day! It is chuck full with accurate info about cholesterol, carbohydrate addiction, proper hydration, the problem with processed foods, and more. I highly recommend it and will continue to use it as reference with maintaining my health."

"I rarely give books like this 5 stars because they usually hit on whatever fad is in the current limelight but this book is different. It is very well written and I formative. It has all the information you need within this one book."

"This is one of the best guides to better health that I have read. The advice is laid in a conversational and easy to read manner and packed with actionable tips for even the most basic of beginners. "This book really meshes with my other research on health and wellness as well as my own experiments on myself. I really could have used it about20 years ago.. but the research might not have been there. Lots of good stuff in here to help you get healthier."

About the Author
Gary was raised in the High Desert at the basin of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in a rural part of California. He now lives off-the-grid part of the year in a remote area of NE Washington State, and the other part of year exploring in his travel trailer with his trusty black lab Barney.
He enjoyed, and considers himself lucky to have grown up in a very small town experiencing fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors from a very young age. He has been involved in organized sports, nutrition, and fitness for almost four decades. He is also an active follower and teacher of what he calls "life simplification." He often says:
"Today we're bombarded by too much stress, not enough time for personal fulfillment, and failing to take care of our health... there has to be a better way!"
In addition to being a best selling author, he has taught at the University College level, consulted and trained college level athletes, and been interviewed for his expertise on various subjects by CBS Sports, Coast to Coast AM, The RT Network, and FOX News to name a few.
His website thesimplelifenow.com, and The Simple Life book series (his total lifestyle reboot), blows the lid off of conventional life and wellness expectations, and is considered essential for every person seeking a simpler, and happier life.

I spent most of my youth as an athlete and gym rat. Now in my 40s, I have the injuries to prove it. There were so many dumb fads. I wish this book had been around back then.
I liked the book enough to go into the danger zone and suggest it to my wife.
I have autoimmune thyroid issues and have read many other books that helped unravel things for me, like the excellent ones from Dr. Datis Kharrazian, but this book explains things in a way that’s simpler to read and understand, and very easy to implement. I wish I had had it ten years ago—it would have saved me thousands of dollars in doctor bills and unnecessary supplements, not to mention years of stress and confusion.
If you’re overweight, struggling with autoimmunity, or just not feeling well and getting the runaround from doctors, this book could be the key to getting your health back.
I’ve read a lot of books on fitness and dieting over the years, but this is one of the best books that I’ve read on these topics by far. It forgoes all the trendy diets and latest exercises with unrealistic promises of weight loss and strength gains. Instead, the book provides a simple and personalized plan for diet and exercise that is readily actionable, results driven (already lost 1.5 inches off waistline in the last month), and most importantly sustainable!
I would first start off by saying that I found it a little pompous when right from the get go the author, Gary Collins when he states Bottom line: no one else in the health industry has my background—no one! I seriously don’t think that this is true when there are so many other professionals and educators out there, so I feel like I’m trying to be duped! However I will say that there is a plethora of great information to be had in this guide, such as a great list for shopping and what spices, oils, etc.. to use . Also I found some great tips on exercising and steps to ensure better eating habits. I disagree with his statements of saying that obesity is not from overeating and that eating too many calories does not cause excessive weight gain, but that is only my opinion.. also I love the tip about using glass containers instead of plastic for leftovers! Overall this was pretty informative and a good reference guide!
