About the Author
Amy Sedaris has appeared in several movies and television shows, and, with Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert, is a co-author of the novel Wigfield. She also co-wrote Strangers with Candy, the hit show on Comedy Central. She lives in
Amy Sedaris's new book will have you in stitches--and not just of the cross-stitch variety. In her genuinely hilarious look at crafts and crafty folk, Sedaris presents a rib-tickling assortment of nutty, sometimes- naughty suggestions to brighten our lives in tough economic times. In a hyper-enthusiastic performance, Sedaris tackles the materials you'll need for crafting, offering some truly unique ideas for crafts--such as "bottle-cap castanets" and "decorative fly strips"--and some hazards faced by novice crafters--such as feather asphyxia and sawdust fires. The audiobook offers a bonus PDF file featuring recipes, how-to's, and photos of some finished products, including "shut-in shuffle slippers" and a "milk carton skid row." Sedaris's wildly wacky crafts and gift of side-splitting laughter are a perfect combination for lifting those economic doldrums. S.J.H. I like the layout, and the photography, but like other reviews have said there isn't much in the way of actual crafting projects. I think the purpose of this book is more inspirational, look what I can do with stuff, what can you do? over a guide of craft projects. Amy is funny in her descriptions, and some of her craft ideas are pretty cute/hilarious, but if you are a serious crafter looking for new crafting ideas this might not be the book for you.
This book isn't what I expected, but I'm not disappointed, if you are an Amy Sedaris fan it's worth picking up.
The quality of the pages is really high, so it's fun to page through it. I was surprised by this, considering how cheap it was.
She has another book too, which I've also purchased. They are equally great.
