Horrible product, it didn’t even work after trying two cameras and being on the phone with customer service for almost 2 hours. Don’t waste your money, there’s better and cheaper cameras out there.

It took 15 attempts to activate the camera. They tell you to scan the QR code from 1-2 feet away. Only worked when I moved it to 2" away and slowly backed it up with my left foot in the air and one eye closed and humming Post Malone's Same Bitches.

I'm a big Simplisafe fan, I recommend them every chance I get, but This is a poor product from Simplisafe. The camera would not come out of night vision mode and it constantly disconnected. Simplisafe has to go back to the drawing board because this product was a disaster. I brought the Amcrest 1080P pan/tilt wifi camera instead, their support team will have to set it up for you, but it is rock solid.

Camera Issue

I am returning this security system because the camera will not maintain an internet connection. The system itself seems to work but the camera is the main reason for my purchase. The camera has been replaced (no charge) and still will not maintain an internet connection. I have been in contact with vendor and was told to just return the system. I'm very disappointed that I have to start looking for a different system again...

My issues are more with the service than the camera itself. The camera seems to work fine, but having it sync to my account causes trouble and find i have to keep unplugging and re-adding to my account to re-sync. I also don't like that it wasn't until after I purchased the camera I discovered it was actually an extra fee for the camera to turn on automatically when the alarm is triggered and record, so for now I have a way to stream live when an event is triggered, but no recording until I decide it is or isn't worth the extra money.

This camera (bought 2) has pluses and minuses. The color and detail under normal room lighting is very good. When light drops to "less than normal," video drops into night vision mode. My cameras sit in our basement while we spend some time away and look for leaks or other problems that might occur in an old house. The night vision gives eerie video but is rather difficult to interpret. So, we left a few CFL lights on!

Documentation is horrible. With the Android app (I had to discover this), you add each camera, giving it the WiFi SSID and password. Once the camera logs into your WiFi, it apparently does a firmware upgrade. The lights, clicking, etc. didn't match the scant documentation so I had to call SimpliSafe. They helped assure me that the cameras were working reliably and as designed.

Now on reliability, the cameras take perhaps 30 seconds to wake up and give a picture on my phone. They stay live for perhaps 30 seconds and then return to hibernation. SimpliSafe could not explain this. The sound captured by the cameras is weird. One of my cameras is about 15 feet away from one of our furnaces. One evening when checking on the house/basement, one camera was picking up this weird noise that didn't sound like a furnace. The other camera, 60 feet away heard nothing. Then, it dawned on me, it must be the furnace. Ten minutes later, both cameras were silent. On our 30 MB/s internet service, live pick-up of sound and live action video is herky-jerky to say the least.

The good news is that these cameras integrate with the otherwise great SimpliSaqfe hardware and app. So, we'll keep them

Disappointed with Cam, but not Simplisafe

We have a Simplisafe alarm system and have been pleased with it. However, the Simplisafe Cam proved to be troublesome and problematic. Performance on motion detection was very bad. It may have even needed restarting at times because it wasn't picking any motion at all on several occasions. We purchased a wired RING cam to replace this and there is a huge difference. Ring Cam has excellent motion detection—even through the screen of patio where we have one installed. The Simplisafe cam had issues with that. Also, the RING camera is up and running 100% of the time—very reliable, very sensitive, unlike the Simplisafe cam. Avoid Simplisafe for camera technology at the moment, but their alarm system is great.

Adequate {but barely)

Second camera set up with the simplisafe system .... Easy to set up and get going.

Works well but feels like 2008 technology with only a wired power source and no panning. Low light video is very weak.

So why did I add a second?

I've had and even very satisfied with the simplisafe system for over six years. Price is great and the monitoring service is fast and has always been spot on.

Hopefully simplisafe can get their act together with a better camera system in the future but in the meantime......This one is adequate. {Barely).
