I'm an accomplished seamstress who wants to learn more about pants pattern drafting. I sure won't be doing it from this book. I'll be donating it to my local library.
I have been making my pants with the use of commercial patterns, however, I always have to do some alterations eventually. I am grateful that I ordered the pattern-making book of Chic R. Francisco ---Simplified Pattern-Making of Ladies’ Pants. The book is easy to follow and understand (what with detailed illustrations on how the curve ruler is to be used in plotting the pants pattern), enabling me to come up with a well-fitted pair of pants. I was prepared to make some alterations, but to my surprise, none were needed. The author’s instructions on how to measure, what to measure, and the pattern drafting method all seem to have been precise. When my aunt learned I had made the pants from scratch, she was so awed by its fit and fall that she asked me to make one for her. I was quite hesitant because she has a fairly large figure, but to my pleasant surprise, her pants were a perfect fit! Admittedly, earlier, I had let my aunt wear the pants folded and pinned at the hem. Now, she is asking me to make another pair for her; this time she is willing to pay for it! My heartfelt thanks to Ms. Francisco!
