Again, using tongs (a cocktail fork would also do - as there is a little slot at the top of each cup to insert it - I slid each of the perfectly formed eggs on to a freshly toasted and buttered English muffin. Care should be taken her - lest you accidentally turn them upside down.
Although I am a great fan of Jacques Pepin ... this method beats his six ways from Sunday.
BTW ... I chose to get one "LIKE NEW" for half price. It was absolutely perfect and appeared that the package had never even been opened by its original owner.
And, when you are not poaching eggs, this is a really nice and heavy and non-stick straight sided 8" skillet with a vented glass top.

The Calphalon 4-cup egg poacher cooks jumbo sized eggs in 4 min and 45 seconds; normal for a steam poacher. The jumbo eggs work well in the cups, but I have had some very large jumbos that actually overflowed the cups. Extra large eggs would never have this problem.
The pan is quite heavy and sturdy. The handle is a little small in diameter, but not a problem. The cover is fairly heavy glass and gets very hot; the small cover handle can lead to a burn if you don't use a potholder. The support frame that holds the egg cups has a small handle in the center. I use tongs to lift the frame from the pan when the eggs are done, otherwise I would burn my fingers.
The 4 egg cups are coated with a non stick material which is still as good as day one after more than 6 months use. I use a little butter in each cup just to ensure easy removal; I have not had a single egg stick.
Cleanup is very easy. I just dry off the pan and cover, then spray the cups and support frame with hot water. I dry the egg cups with a paper towel without using any soap to keep the non stick surface "conditioned". The frame is a little hard to dry because of the groove around the outer rim; it tends to hold water.
The pan is usable for other purposes, although I have never tried using it for anything but as a poacher.
This pan is everything you would wan't and nothing you don't.

It's decent, but if you're like me and prefer extra large eggs, this cooker will not handle them well, they will overflow and/or spill extremely easily. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Peter Marreck
