This is a more expensive airbed because of the highest quality material and construction. Less expensive airbeds will leak, stretch and sag more quickly and may not include an integrated built-in pump. Hassle-free inflating & deflating with an easy switch. Our airbeds will LAST LONGER than the competition. The SimplySleeper is a perfect sleeping solution for even the weariest traveler. Combining top-of-the-line quality and weightless comfort into one convenient package can turn any room or area into a comfortable bedroom in only minutes. The SimplySleeper airbed offers a best-in-class feature, a patented breathable DurmothaneTM Polyester Laminate Technology that is topped with a lustrous 100% microfiber surface moderates your changing body temperature during sleep by wicking moisture away. The unique three-layers of materials perfectly sealed together to make SimplySleeper airbeds incredibly puncture resistant and durable, yet sensually soft to your skin. The thermo-induced laminate adhesive layer works to bind heavy gauge PVC together with a PVC coating to reduce stretch and prevent airbed pressure loss.

This bed is still going strong for me. No degradation or leaks! Still love this air-bed big time! I'm 5' 7" 122 pounds but I am a tosser-turner and I can put a real hurtin' on an air-bed with my constant position switching throughout the night and this bed is still almost like brand new. Still happy with my bed! YAY! :)
This air-bed is not as thick as typical air-beds but still quite comfortable. I bought this bed after my 2+ year old Aerobed petered out and couldn't be fixed any longer. I have back/neck/shoulder issues which are only relieved by sleeping on a twin air-bed that I can custom adjust to my comfort level. My husband and I own an expensive 'brand-name' queen air-bed but I've just never been able to get comfortable enough on it to be able to get a decent night's sleep, so my solution was to sleep on my own air-bed next to the queen bed.
I really like the feature of having a place for the cord to be tucked away into the side-indention of the air-bed and it inflates and deflates super-fast. Regular twin sheets fit this mattress perfectly.
This bed and its materials feel quality made and I will be using it every night, so, it will be interesting to see how the longevity plays out after a couple of years of constant use.
Also, don't be surprised when you receive your bed and the box that the bed is folded in has been already opened as this is part of this company's quality-control to insure your bed inflates and holds air for 24 hours and deflates before they ship it to you.
Sweeet Dreams! Zzzz
It has been fairly comfortable, and the sturdy exterior has shown no signs of wear. The pump still works fine. Of course, it's only seen about 15 seconds of use since the initial inflation when I bought the mattress.
I'm leaving my review at 5 stars because air mattresses aren't typically intended to be used continuously. This is the best one I've had so far by a long shot.
The past few months I've been noticing that when I sleep on my side I wake up with a paralyzed arm. Kind of scary. I've been driving to work rather than walking or riding my bike for the past few months as well, so it could be me, not the mattress. Still, keep in mind that an air mattress is NOT a coil or foam mattress.
Update: 5 months' continuous use, added air once.
The SS-47T has been an excellent mattress so far! I am using it with a 3" 'gel swirl memory foam' pad (Twin Size 3 Inch Thick, Gel Swirl Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Pad Bed Topper Made in the USA), which hangs off the end a couple of inches. The mattress is 72" long from bulge to bulge (even after 5 months' use), not 75.5" as advertised. The width is accurate, however, at 40".
This mattress/pad combo has been perfect for me, whether sleeping on my back or on my side. I weigh around 150 and I am 5'10" tall. Also, I am very bony. I don't really mind hanging my heels off the end of the bed - I think I actually prefer it. The mattress isn't super-inflated because I want it to last, but with the pad it is still very supportive, medium-firm, and doesn't sink in the middle.
I use this mattress and pad combo as my full-time bed, on the floor in the corner of my room. I have added air (switched the pump on for about three seconds) once since I first inflated it. Not bad!
My mattress is identical to the image in the Amazon ad, complete with the horizontal bars.
I definitely would have preferred a simple valve and detachable pump, but this one hasn't given me any trouble the two times I've used it. If this mattress ever fails, I will update this review. In the meantime, I will update the review every few months to let you know it's still going strong.
I think the thing that sets this mattress apart from others is it doesn't try to be soft and comfy, which tends to mean materials that are stretchy and prone to scratches and pinhole leaks. This mattress is covered with a very stiff, rough fabric that might as well be armor. One major advantage of the fabric's roughness is a mattress pad won't slide, and the mattress isn't as bad about wandering away from the wall while you sleep. Of course, a disadvantage is you're not going to be comfortable without a pad on top. And this is coming from a guy who was happy to sleep on a carpeted floor for a year and a half!!
I bought a previous Simply Sleeper model three years ago and owned it for about a year. I used it about 4 months every night and then loaned it to a house guest for a month. When I got it back from the guest, there was a 1 foot diameter bubble that gradually grew into something larger and I had to replace it.
I bought the newer model nearly three years ago and have used it about 50% of the time to sleep on at night with no problems, no bubble, no leaks. I bought an inch thick foam pad to put on it and the mattress feels more like a bed than an air mattress. With other air mattress brands it always feels like I’m balancing to keep from getting pitched off. With the Simply Sleeper I just snuggle in and go right to sleep.
My recommendations are
Pay the extra money to buy this air mattress.
Put a foam pad down on top of the mattress (maybe $20 at Target). It’s not just softer, it isolates you from the feel and springiness of the inflated plastic mattress.
Place a mattress cover on over the pad and mattress.
Put a blanket down to keep it from getting cold underneath you in the winter.
Put down a sheet set and comforter, and maybe a blanket on top in the winter. Pillows are good.
Don’t walk on it. I don’t know if that caused the bubble on the first one I bought, but I’m careful to not walk on it and I’ve had it for three years using it half the nights.
Cozy! Just writing about it makes me want to ... go right to ... right ... to ... zzzzz
I will post another review if I find that this mattress doesn't last very long.
