I have a few comments on this power strip based on some of the other reviews I've read:
~ This is not an extension cord, and isn't meant to be. It's a universal/travel power strip with surge protection. Its purpose is to turn ONE electrical outlet into THREE, and to provide surge protection. Its small size and shorter cord length are deliberate - so it takes up less space when traveling. If you want a longer cord and have room for something bigger, you might consider this power strip instead VCT Universal Power Strip 6 Outlets - 100V to 220V/250V and 3750 Watts Surge Protector with Window Shutters and Circuit Breaker. Use Worldwide in Any Country - Model VCT USP600. If you need an extension cord, consider asking the local hotel/B&B/apartment owner to borrow one - I don't think I've ever seen a stand-alone dual-voltage extension cord.
~ This power strip comes with a 3-pin grounded USA plug because it's marketed for the US consumer, or at least for those who live in countries with 110V electricity. It's no different than dual-voltage travel hair dryers, curling irons, etc., sold in the US - they all come with USA plugs. The plug on this device is not universal, and there's nothing in the product description that says it is.Read more ›
I wonder if I just received a defective item, whether they are all wired this way, or maybe the factory randomly wires some one way and some the other.
Also, it is possible to plug a two-prong polarized U.S. plug (one wide prong and one narrow prong) into the universal outlets on this outlet strip either way. Both vertical slots on this outlet strip are wide enough to take the wide prong. I have a collection of universal outlets purchased over several years in multiple countries, and some have slots wide enough for a two-prong polarized U.S. plug and some don't.
I don't expect U.S. standards to be followed when I am overseas, but because this outlet strip comes with a standard three-prong polarized and grounded U.S. plug, indicating that it is for use in the U.S., there are potential safety problems for it to be reverse wired and to accept two-prong U.S. polarized plugs but not enforce polarity. I checked carefully on the outlet strip itself and on the box and could not find the UL mark anywhere.
It appears from the photo that this Simran adapter has one slot that is wider than the other to enforce polarity on U.S. two-prong polarized plugs, so the manufacturer should be aware that wide and narrow prongs on U.S. plugs are related to polarity.

Huge help on a group trip to Taiwan where folks were fighting for outlets. I don't like the short cord, and to get your plug in the individual outlet takes some strength. Read morePublished 7 days ago by Kindle Customer
This product is really designed for a non-US traveler visiting the US. The plug is a standard US three prong plug and the strip will accept a variety of non-US plugs. Read morePublished 1 month ago by MillerGal
The power extension works fine with different plugs, but the wire appeared to be too short - only 30 cm, not retractable.Published 1 month ago by Amazon Customer

Received this today and have a few comments. The strip is a little bulkier than I expected, will probably only carry it in my checked luggage. Read morePublished 3 months ago by ontheroadagain
