The only problem is that she has a MacBook, The Mac version of the game seems to have some display issues on Mac laptops, She read around and didn't find any real solutions to the problem-- The game only shows up on a square that covers about 2/3 of the screen, even in fullscreen mode you can still see the apple desktop in the back. Even the "window" mode isn't resizable and the controls to toggle between the views don't work. This also gets complicated/annoying if you don't have your dock hidden.
Anyway, she emailed Aspyr about the issue and they were very nice about it but said there wasn't much they could do to fix it, they did give her a helpful hint though; if you hold down the "command" key while you click on the game you can actually get into the view settings and change the screen size (they suggested 800x600 resolution) and choose window or full screen.
Other than that little problem the game works fine and everything is just how we remembered it! Addicting and tons of fun!!
This is definitely a game that you can get your money's worth out of (although, it is really a matter of taste; some don't prefer these types of games). I've managed to get many hours of playtime out of the PC versions (I bought the Mac version for a family member; excluding downloads, both versions are completely identical). If you've enjoyed other Sims games, I highly recommend picking up this one.
Or, if you haven't played a Sims game yet, but are considering trying one, this is one I would recommend. Although, if you are unsure as to whether or not you will like Sims games, you can also rent console versions to see if you like them. They are not the same as the PC version, but if you like them you will probably like this one, too.
I really hope EA Games will release an updated version of The Sims Complete for Mac OS X Lion.
Just wanted to let you all know!
Apple dropped Rosetta from OS X 10.7 (Lion). This means that all Power PC applications will NOT work with 10.7 (or later, I would assume). Since this is a Power PC application, there is NO ability to run this application. There is NO patch. There is NO fix. After all, this game is over 11 years old.
Your only choice is a dual boot OS X, or Boot Camp into an old copy of Windows... and a Windows copy of this game.
