While perhaps geared to young adults, I firmly believe anyone can enjoy SL Rottman's writing! We can all relate to Silke's story - the strict parents, the highest of expectations, the fear of letting down our parents. I found myself unable to go to bed without finishing...and then? Wishing there was a sequel!
SL Rottman has an amazing talent for telling a moving story from a teen's perspective, incorporating the change in mindset we all remember, as we transitioned from children to adults. Silke's story is relatable to so many of us - put into a situation outside our own comfort zones, our first taste of FREEDOM, our first time rebelling, learning the fine balance of disagreeing with parents while still being respectful (I wasn't as good as Silke was! LOL). The amount of maturing one girl does in just 225 pgs is amazing! And, SL Rottman writes Silke's story of growth & maturity so elegantly, so easily, that you feel as though you are right there with her, every step of the way.
Silke's story is amazing! And deserves a sequel!
