"Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress"
Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? Once I'd started to read, I was quickly drawn into the story of Emma, Sin & Xander.... With her rough upbringing Emma finds herself in love & talked into moving away from friends, only to be left soon after. Leaving the local pub after a night out with friends, Emma is attacked. After vowing to take vengeance upon his mates killer, Sin has arrived in Woodland Creek on the trial of his brother, when he hears a scream....
I think I need to read more from J.D. Hollyfield. I can't wait to read what the others have written for the "Woodland Creek" collection.
This book has a fun side as well as a dark side...
Was fun to read ... Emma is quite the sassy heroine and Sin is quite the sexy hero.
Emma Waters is no stranger to a world of abandonment.
Growing up on the wrong side of the Foster care system taught her to count on a life without love. That’s until she meets a man who promises to give her what she’s always wanted: someone to belong to. But Emma soon learns that loving someone she barely knows comes at a price and that price just landed her all alone in a strange town.
Since the death of the woman he loved, Roxsin and the beast inside him, crave revenge. He’ll stop at nothing to find his half-brother and make him pay for her murder. The quest for revenge leads him to the mysterious town of Woodland Creek and the end to his search for vengeance. He’s made his plan. He knows how to end this, but what Roxsin never counted on was finding another woman worth killing for.
When the broken-heart former foster girl and the man obsessed with revenge cross paths, the heat and temptation become combustible, but is Emma willing to sacrifice her heart to another? And if Roxsin vows to stop at nothing to get his revenge, at what expense will they both sacrifice for redemption? As their worlds collide and secrets of a world Emma never could imagine existed, they must decide if redemption is worth the price of revenge and sacrifice. (Amazon blurb)
There has always been two sides to every child’s life and some are difficult to bear, incredibly difficult to listen, while others have had the chance to know what family and love mean and the influence it has on them. Emma was the unlucky child, one that grew to know coldness, darkness and abandonment, but more so that love only brings you pain and heartache. Roxsin has known love, the tender touch of a hand on the cheek and eyes that sparkle when the other walks into a room, but it was cruelly ripped out of his hands by jealousy and envy. There is no question in my mind why J.D. Hollyfield has managed to fully captivate my attention from beginning to end. Not only do we return to Woodland Creek, the same mysterious town we found ourselves in Tia Louise’s One Insatiable, but when shifters and attraction collide, I simply can’t stop myself from reading cover to cover. As a standalone in a boxed set of 30 novels with 30 novels from the Woodland Creek series, J.D. Hollyfield’s Sinful Instincts is absolutely worth the read.
