About the Author
Antonio “LA” Reid has been a key figure in shaping the sound and experience of popular music for over twenty-five years—as a record producer, songwriter, and label executive. Reid first broke into the music world in the 1980s as the drummer for the R&B band the Deele. Along with bandmate Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Reid made his move behind the scenes of the industry in 1989 when he founded LaFace Records. Prior to becoming chairman and CEO of Epic Records in July 2011, Reid also served as chairman of the former Island Def Jam Music Group from 2004 to 2011 and as president and CEO of Arista Records from 2000 to 2004.
Reid’s excellence in the music world is not limited to his work as an executive. Winner of eighteen BMI Awards, he’s also a talent in his own right. Reid has produced and/or co-written dozens of number one singles and has won three Grammy Awards. He has been presented with numerous acknowledgements, including UNICEF’s Spirit of Compassion Award, the Recording Academy’s President’s Merit Award, and the prestigious Harvard University Alumni Award for Excellence in Media and Entertainment. Reid lives in Manhattan with his wife, Erica, and his two children Arianna and Addison. He has three grown children, Antonio, Ashley, and Aaron.--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Sing To Me takes you on a journey through Reid's life as a child growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio; the period when he was a drummer for Pure Essence (later named The Deele); his marriage to Pebbles; being a father to his four children; and then of course his career as a music executive for various record companies.
I would say the most interesting parts of this book to me was when Reid described the triumphs and tribulations he endured with Pure Essence/The Deele; his musical and real life friendship with Babyface; the 1989 to 2005 period of his career as a record executive at the LaFace and Arista record companies; and of course, I enjoyed the areas of this book where he expressed his feelings on whether he felt fulfilled and fully praised for what he contributed to the music business for over 30 years.
Meanwhile, after the chapter which dealt with Mariah Carey and her comeback album, The Emancipation of Mimi (2005), I kind of lost interest. But I still kept reading and learning about the music business from Reid.
Don't get me wrong, I seriously enjoyed this book, but after the Carey chapter I wasn't as captivated. And that's just me. I've never been interested in music that came out after 2005.
Buy this book if you want some serious insight into the music business.
LA Reid gives the reader his humble and vulnerable sides, as well as little gems of humor (qualities lacking in our society today).
Have no fear, you've left your mark.

Reading this biography i learnt, he actually had a career and done other things in the music business before meeting Babyface. For a start, I would never have pictured him in a 1980s group looking like a knock off Prince !!
I wanted the book to dig down a bit more like his relationship with his eldest son, more about his divorce from Pebbles. I also did want some dirt on some of the people in the music business and behind the scenes, however It did tell the backstory to TLC, Usher Pink and a few others.
I also liked what he wrote about appearing on X-factor USA, which I actually watched and thought he was one on the best judges in any of these music talent shows because he is very very experienced and has insight because he has been in the music business since his teens,
This book was very nice and pleasant about everything./everyone. Still a good insight in to the music industry.
