So after much research, I found this double quilted panel & I had to give it a shot! I loved the double faced option with top & side metal grommets. For me, that's what I needed...as I wanted to suspend it from one wall to another. Basically blocking the hallway. I bought special hooks & it took less than 5 minutes to suspend. I have another hook on a side wall which will allow for me to take a panel corner, hook up, to keep open. Note: this is certainly not a curtain! It is a semi heavy panel of thick quilted material.
But my space is modern with grey/black tones & it works. It actually looks good & blocks my dogs from racing down the hallway to bark. Dual purposes...
It doesn't stop all sounds but it does really help! It blocks out a lot of noise, unwanted echo, & even draft...I'm very pleased so far & will update as I continue to use it.
I highly recommend for nontraditional spaces & modern applications to prevent noise.
WARNING: There is fiberglass residue all over the blanket when you first open the package. I recommend taking a damp cloth and wiping it down to avoid itchy arms and hands when handling. Once i wiped it down i didnt notice anymore irritation from handling.
I bought this to dampen the sound and it has done the job. It does not eliminate noise, but it did reduce it. GIven that the rest of the room is all windows, it is impossible that one covered window would make the room "sound proof" but still, I can recognize that the sound from that part of the road is dampened. The greater benefit has been the complete elimination of light (headlights) from the street and my neighbor's "pop on at nothing" motion sensor lights. It has made that side of the room ultra dark and that is great.
The grommets make it easy to hang, although I would suggest not lifting it over your head without someone holding the other side. If you have back issues, it may throw your back out.
If I had more money I would buy one of these panels for every single window. My neighbor has a gardener who enjoys using his leaf blower more than anything in the entire world. He blows it for two hours outside my windows. He will spend several minutes trying to blow one leaf off of wet grass. Point it, it is super noisy here whenever that occurs, so I think these panels would be a great way of reducing that annoyance.
Instead, perhaps your parents warned you not to play with the insulation that was being put into your house because it contained fiberglass?
Well, fiberglass is not only what the batting of these panels contains, but they come with fiberglass all over the exterior, too. If you don't need to touch them on any kind of regular basis and you're willing to install them using gloves, but still get fiberglass around the install area, then these might be fine. For what it's worth, they do muffle (but not block) sound well, for what they are. That's why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1.
Too bad they are made out of an an annoying, and I daresay dangerous, material.

Good strong quality. Didn't quite block sound as I expected though, a little cumbersome moving it around since it's behind a door.Published 11 days ago by Peter N

It does block sound as it says it does. It definitely minimized the city noise....too bad the look of it is not as nice for my apartment...more for industrial look. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Claudia
Works well in my home studio. I use it a few ways - to block sound from going through door, to hang from ceiling to make a semi-isolation area, and above and behind drums. Read morePublished 3 months ago by DJ Leslie
