However, if I was around someone like the determined, sweet has a way with words single dad Dash.... I might be able to forgo the extra creamer in that coffee ya know?!( HA! )
* Sips on coffee, wonders if the teenager daughter will get her a white mocha latte, curses author*
I should have known I would have all these fuzzy feeling " brewing" when I started this book!
From the very first page, I was all in-Ellie, and Dash are such fun, humorous pair with sparks flying whenever they get near each other chemistry.
I could not help but be ridiculously excited to watch them grow as a pair, yet hide their affections due to the craziness that surrounded them.
Seriously! This book was a melt my heart, root them on, alpha'd hot, with an extra side passion, frustrating to fun-loving romance that wrapped me all up in knots and I could not put down!
The only bad thing about it? I wanted more!!
One I would suggest checking out!
IMO Another 5+ Star Novel!!
About the only scene I felt missing was a resolution scene between Ellie and her aunt, who refuses to let go her budgetary choke-hold on the coffee shop. She comes across much more of a witch than Jade probably intended, but she was the only character I didn't like much at all. Her tight-fisted mismanagement existed long before the family emergency in Florida so this character has no excuses.
All the characters are charming, the baby is cute without being cloying (hard to do, a lot of writers mess that up and go too cutesy) and the sex, while in the moment and explicit, isn't overly so. You know, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, it's just right.
This was a decent read. But, I feel like I was missing many things. I couldn't relate to Ellie or Dash. I loved the premise of the story. I really thought this would be a "Hate to Lovers" type read but it missed it's mark. This one is set in the same town as Single Dad's Waitress (which I absolutely loved). But they are completely independent of each other. In my heart of hearts, I really wanted to love this one but unfortunately I didn't. I missed the connection between Ellie and Rosie (Dash's daughter). I was so hoping a bond would be formed. I can see this getting great reviews it just didn't make it in my top favorite reads. It is a light read. No drama. Really respectful. It was just missing that "it" factor for me.
Dash and Ellie together was fantastic. It was just the "meat" of the story that didn't completely work. Strong 3.5 Star read.
Ellery Collins is a former photojournalist who experienced something that shook her. Needing to get away from the city, it's perfect timing when her aunt and uncle ask her to mind their small, somewhat dysfunctional coffee shop back in her hometown of Lakewood. And Ellie is close to content with her daily routine of serving regulars, cleaning the shop and bingeing Netflix. That is, until Dash stops for a cup of coffee on his first day in town. Things for Ellie may never be the same again.
Dashiell Huxley is a single dad to the adorable Rosie. His ex has left him to travel the world and he's come to Lakewood to fulfill his grandmother's dream of running a small coffee shop. He intends to do his best, take care of his daughter, and lay low while he sorts out his life again. He does *not* intend to fall almost instantly in love with a booty- shaking barista who just happens to run the coffee shop directly across the street from where his will open.
Can Ellie and Dash survive being enemies by day and lovers by night? What happens when that's no longer enough? Things might get a little bumpy for this adorable couple, but one thing's for sure. It will all work out in the end.
Amelia provides the perfect combo of hot and sweet, just as always.
