I LOVE Jessica Sims! This book was fantastic for a novella. I felt like I got to know both characters, and really loved them. In fact I wish that it was a full novel because I liked them so much. Alice was GREAT! I thought she was a completely relatable character, and Jackson was absolutely perfect for her. Also, I loved the name, Savage pack. No "I love you's" were said, but you know what? It was actually okay because I really felt the connection and affection between the main characters and that they were commited and happy to be "mates." And what they did say was enough for me to feel like I got my HEA. Again, love the authors books, and she is one of my automatic buys.

I'm generally not a fan of novellas but Single Wolf Female is short, perfect and hot. The ending isn't rushed and it doesn't get mucked up. This can definitely be a stand-alone novella because that's how I read it.

Alice Savage needs an Alpha so (as in summary) she finds Jackson through a were-dating website. Sounds cheesy but I was hooked as soon as I read, "Except I was wearing jeans and a ratty Star Wars t-shirt." SOLD. Main character is obviously bad ass with an outfit like that.

The chemistry between Alice and Jackson is delicious. I read this in one sitting and if you are into werewolves at all you will enjoy this story.

I liked the price (99 cents at the time) and thought I'd give this novella a try. I love wolf-shifter romances, and what I really enjoyed about this one is that the hero is an Alpha but is also sweet and kind. I do like them macho, where they have a lot of growl and bite to them, but this guy is capable without being arrogant, tough without being cocky. He's easy-going, which can be odd for an alpha, but when he's protecting what's his, people soon back down. Jackson Wilder is just the right combination of sexy, sweet and manly.

Also, I liked this heroine, Alice. The story is told in first-person from her POV, and she comes across as a little snarky, a bit unsure, and tired from some blows life has recently dealt her. She has doubts that Jackson can take on the problems facing her young, small pack of wolves. She's the Alpha female, and Jackson is just the soft but firm touch she needs in her life now.

The secondary characters are great, too, really adding to the story, such as Dan and Holly, and adorable baby Eddie cracked me up! There were a few cute/funny moments in the story, as well as some tension/danger concerning the pack, and a bit of sweet smexing for good measure. It's a shorter PNR, but nicely rounded out and very enjoyable to read. Part of a series but can be read on its own, which I did.

I absolutely love everything this author writes! She writes several different series under different names (Jill Myles, Jessica Clare). This one is no exception.

This is a short story set in her Midnight Liaisons world. A dating service set up for shifters, and other paranormal creatures.

Alice Strange is in an odd predicament. She is a female alpha, in need of a male alpha. Any male alpha. After the death of her brother, the pack's male alpha, the protection of the pack falls to her. Otherwise, come the full moon her small pack may be taken over by the smarmy Roscoe.

So she finds herself applying for a date with the Midnight Liaisons dating service. Where she is matched up with the "alpha" Jackson Wilder. He describes himself as being easy going, and laid back.

When Alice finally meets Jackson, he is exactly what he claims to be, very laid back, and easy going. Also very easy on the eyes. But Alice wonders if he is too laid back. Too easy going to take control, and hold control of her pack.

I loved this little side story, that is set away from the main characters of the dating service. It was well written and I fell in love with the characters. I look forward to the next one.

Who ever heard of a happy-go-lucky alpha wolf? I certainly hadn't which is why I picked this book to read. The dimples deceive. Jackson Wilder is one yummy wolf and he's not defined by first impressions.

Actually neither is the heroine, Alice. When the book opens, she's a mess. There's a sad reason for that but it sets the stage for what comes after. It provides the conflict, the plot motivation and the reason for the romance - werewolf style.

This story is told in Alice's point of view only. Ms. Sims didn't drop the ball once and stayed true to the POV. I liked how the author kept on track. She never had Alice mired in either a woe-is-me or anger against the world kind of internal conflict. The heroine acted like a true person - she grieved, messed up and got sloppy, but when a threat rolled around she did the right thing. And when she was presented with a new `right thing' she wasn't blind or stubborn to the point of stupidity - she met the challenge head on, accepted it, moved forward all while her knees are shaking. I liked that.

Personal growth is apparent. At first, Alice feels like she has to follow tradition. And in some ways she does. But the hero, Jackson, introduces a different way of doing things. Not better, just different. Okay, well maybe a little bit better. And it throws the heroine for a loop. I enjoyed that too because I was able to see how she grew as a person, as a leader and as a future mate. Talk about building up sexual tension! I liked the slow tease of their relationship. Jackson respected Alice and that was quite clear. Eventually, the heroine discovered the many ways and reasons to respect the hero in return. And that freed her to `explore'. When it comes to the part when she finally overcomes her shyness to explore, it's very sexy.
