The first book in by Janel in the Danger Cove Series and it was a great start.
The character that Janel writes is taking over the bakery in the series. This part of the series was previously penned by Catherine Bruns. Her character closed the bakery in the last book to move to another part of the country with her boyfriend. That left this segment of the series open. Janel makes a good addition and her writing style and methodology meshes well with the series.
The Danger Cove series features several authors each penning a series of novels that are related by taking place in the same location and featuring some of the same supporting characters. It is an interesting concept that seems to becoming more popular with several others offering series of this type. Since I had been following several of the authors it was a natural fit for me to pick up this series.
The entire series is well written and well plotted. In particular I like the addition of Janel and I have been impressed since her first book with her ability to tell an interesting story that is well written, well plotted and oh yes, clean.
This new series features Maura Monroe who is a suddenly single middle age woman who has been drifting for a while trying to decide what she wants to do. She takes on both a mystery and the closed bakery and begins to put her life back together.
Each of these books stands alone but you will enjoy them more if you read the entire series. Each author adds a little nuance to the location and moves the stories forward.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
