A. Nicky Hjort is originally from Arlington, Texas- the second of five siblings, all of whom have strong creative talents. She currently lives in central California where she practices medicine as an Ob/GYN. In between being a lovingly devoted mother and caring for women, she writes stories that cross multiple genre lines- from Sci Fi to high fantasy, but all of her stories have thriller and strong romantic components. And for her clever reader, all of her manuscripts are subtly connected to each other, with their purpose to explore all facets of Love and Light. She likes to say that her stories write themselves, and in the process, often write her, or at least the next version of her hoping to emerge. A lover of all the arts, A. Nicky Hjort hopes her stories might inspire you to find your inner creative genius.

As for her heroes- they are as varied and eclectic as her choice of narrative genres, but when pushed to list her favorite influences, she would say James Patterson, Barbara Kingsolver, Patricia Cornwell, Dean Koontz, Gene Roddenberry, Shel Silverstein, Suzanne Collins, and Walt Disney.

This is the first book I've read by Hjort and I absolutely loved it!
Totally 'out of the box' which is what I love, and hard to put down.
Follow Dr. Elise Phillips as she deals with the perils of being a first-year and constantly being belittled by the lead doctors.
On a whim, she quits with her best friend in tow. I can't tell you more without spoiling it for you.
I look forward to reading more books by Hjort.
I highly recommend this book.

Another fantastic book from A. Nicky Hjort! I loved the first in the series, and this one was equally as impressive. This was another completely original storyline unlike anything I've come across. Her talent for storytelling is remarkable. It was full of intense suspense that was magnified by Nicky's creative technique of counting down the time left. Just excellent. Like A Sinister Bouquet, this was suspenseful, shocking, and beautiful all at the same time. It's incredible how she balances so much so harmoniously. I can't wait for the next in this series! Highly recommended!!

A multiple POV story that shows both the killer’s POV as well as his next victim and previous victim. Elise was previously kidnapped and almost killed but managed to survive. Her life goes on until one day when she starts to have visions. Visions that warn her killer isn’t done yet. If she can’t figure out what the messages are trying to tell her then she won’t be able to save his next victim from succumbing to a terrible fate.

Very creepy and suspenseful. The author wove in Elise’s background slowly enough that it helped to add to the uncertainty of what exactly she was up against. Plenty of mystery throughout and there was even a bit of romance in it.

Narration was well done though sometimes it was hard to distinguish one character from another.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

I know this much is true: This book has seriously messed with my mind! Outstanding book! Dark, intriguing, suspenseful, mind twisting, grab you by your throat and pull you into a true nightmare kind of read! So well written with a truly twisted storyline that will not let you go until you reach the very end. These characters were very well written and truly complex.

Evil walks the earth and he strikes every year on the same date and same time. Jill was the first, but she go away, so every year he tries to get someone just like her to replace her and become his "Queen". This man, Kincade is truly twisted and no one knows just how twisted until you live through his hunt for his next victim.

I'm not going to go into the storyline as I feel that doing so would give too much away and you really need to read it for yourself to be able to grasp it.

I highly recommend this book.

This was such a quick read, even more so than the first book. Wow. What can I really say. The author Nicky blew this one out the water. There was so much to this, that I couldn't put it down. Nicky is one of those writers, that you really do enjoy from the get go. Of course, it is creepy, it's got some terrible moments in, but the characters rock, they're so real, I would swear this happened down my street. There's not one bad thing about this that I can really think of but to say that even with the ending, I still wanted more. haha.

I am usually a pretty hard person to please and don't normally give too many 5 stars for books. But editing, and story wise, I think this was spot on. I'm an avid audiobook listener more than a 'reader' but Nicky's convinced me that I really should be reading more as well. I've had a great time with her books and will continue to follow her as a fan. As for someone who could narrate this, if she's ever up for it, I can pass on some tips, but this would really make a creepy audiobook.

Thank you for the entertainment, and scaring me before bed. The writing evoked so many emotions, all good ones of course. :)

Highly recommended in this genre, if you're looking for a great read, this is it!
