Beautiful, nostalgic music with a fresh soundtrack that is almost entirely new but that captures the heart of the series so well, it fits without question. there's enough familiarity to really sink it home at the right times.

All the tracks here seem to flow organically with a life of their own and, thankfully, there is musically no cumbersome sense of repetition. Rozen's timing with this material seems impeccable (not having to bow, presumably, to any visual narrative as one would for scoring a film), but arguably Rozen's greatest talent on display here is that of gifted arranger. If you like great fantasy work, ala Danny Elfman's Edward Scissorhands, Basil Poledouris's Conan The Barbarian or James Horner's Krull, you will absolutely Love this! Rozen (an up-and-coming composer operating out of L.A.), I believe, can now easily be named in the same breath with these greats. My most favorite soundtrack recording in years!
Possibly my favorite track is the finale, Sins Of Hyrule, a musical recapitulation of all the main (and beautiful) musical themes...the quest, the championing heroics, the longing for love and the danger faced. With the prominent (essentially wordless) vocal work beautifully done here by a woman known as Reven and along with all the orchestra string sections, trumpet, church organ, piano, powerful drums, etc are electric guitars and synths. The track itself is a musical and dynamic onslaught, countered with punctuating interludes of reverence in the exquisitely produced, midi-evil-inspired, chorale work whose arresting impact is of deep, heartfelt and breathtakingly spiritual awe.

Haunting, driving, beautiful, satisfying, alternatively dark and ascendant material. Not a single non-worthwhile passage to be found on the entire disc. A grand slam!
Do not shy away from these unfamiliar artists. Do not demure because it's 'only' a game soundtrack. Buy this, you will not regret it!!
