Political thrillers are not a genre of choice for me but like an onion, as each layer was unfolded this book becomes more and more exciting as it stretches to its climatic rise I couldn’t nor did I desire to stop reading. I had to know the outcome. Based on real possibilities of “what if” scenarios and current events will keep the reader engaged and in suspense wanting to know will the ERP be able to bring England back to its glory or die trying. A plot that not only could happen in England but the US and other free-will countries as well.
The characters are flawless giving us full reality of their anger and passion. They are not ones to fall in love with but as their individual stories unfold you find yourself sympathizing with their cause. Loving them for their strength, determination and tenacity wanting to join their ranks. Building a desire to stand beside them and as they fight for their lives, homes and family members taken from them in an out of control government.
Serving in the Airborne forces and seeing firsthand the effects of occupation policies Edwards has the experience to write using such an unique and compelling way of writing this fictional tale. Not only does he bring forth a powerful story but one that is so engagingly thrilling that the reader will be conflicted in hurrying to find out the outcome and not wanting the story to end.
One of the best political thrillers I have read in a long time. One that will clearly stand the test of time as this is destined to be a best seller and rightly so.
This is written from a future viewpoint but it could easily happen.
