Another amazing story! I loved this story. I found myself thinking of the characters through out the day. I felt both characters were so very relatable. I never miss an Amber Belldene book...EVER! I love her writing style.

After her family was murdered Anya Truss was chased into a river where she drowned. She’s spent the last fifty years as a ghost tethered within a fifteen foot radius and has found that she is a vila, an alluring wind nymph. When her murderer finds her he offers her the chance to become human and live again, having already done the same for her sister but Anya only wants to find the man that had tormented her in life.

Seeking the help of police investigator Sergey Yuchenko, Anya tries to find the man who had mistreated her to free herself but what Sergey doesn’t tell Anya is that he has his own reason for joining the mission, he believes that he is the son of the man Anya is looking for.

The Siren’s Dance is one of those books that has some good things about it but also some that I didn’t care for. With it being such a short read I kind of had the feeling it fell into that novella curse where I really just wanted to find a bit more.

The concept behind a ghost that is part siren needing to seek out revenge on the man that did her wrong in life plus the idea that she may become human again certainly was intriguing. There was also a good tie in with the characters and their journey and relationship that was interesting.

What I found though was the story seemed to spend a good portion of the book building up the characters and relationship without too much else actually happening as they spent most of that time alone that it seemed to start dragging a bit for me. By the time the big ending happened it also seemed to be over in the blink of an eye so I was a bit let down to have it go so quickly.

Overall, three stars for this read as it had some interesting bits but a bit slow for my taste.

I was completely engaged by 'The Siren's Dance.' Though I did read the first book in this series, and thoroughly enjoyed it, this second book can be read as a standalone. You will get pieces of the first couple's story though, so it may tempt you to backtrack to their story. I actually re-read the last few chapters of the previous book before starting this one, and it helped refresh my mind and get me right back into this story world.

If you've read the previous book and worry that this one is just going to be more of the same, don't fret. Not only is Anya very different from her sister in her personality and history, but Sergey has a very different upbringing and career from Dmitri, making this couple unique and endearing in their own special way. I liked all the special nuances of this story. Anya has not only suffered from being murdered, but she has this complicated ballet history that really drew me in. Belldene did a great job layering Anya. She's so prickly, but there is so much hidden beneath her shell. I loved the patience Sergey showed her, seeing her for more than the front she put off. Sergey was a terrific guy, and the perfect balance to Anya. He also has a fascinating history, and honestly, I did not see a certain part of his past coming. Well done on keeping me on my toes. Also, well done on creeping me out and giving me the heebie-jeebies toward the end. But not the very end. The very end was perfect.

This story definitely engaged me from the budding romance to the mysterious pasts to the creepy evil dude needing to be stopped. What I especially liked is the bond these two formed. Though they were seeking out the same man, their hearts wound up seeking each other out, finding the one other person who truly understood them for what they were. Their love story was complicated, suspenseful, and ultimately beautiful.

Anya’s family had been murdered then she was chased and she had drowned. Anya had been a ballerina in training and now became a Rusalka which is a ghostly water nymph wanting revenge for the man who killed her. Then Anya falls in love with Dimitri - his uncle Gregor is one of the men responsible for the killing of her family. But Anya actually blames her dance master Stas Nemyan for destroying her life. Dimitri gets a hold of Sergey who is looking for the same man for his own reasons that Anya is. Sergy is shocked to see Anya is a ghost and she is a siren which her voice and body ensnare Sergey and her sexual power. When Gregor touches Anya as he was one that chased her and caused her death Anya goes into her human form. So once he begs for forgiveness Anya is okay. When Gregor is not around she wears something of Gregors she can be seen and talked to. So when Gregor sees Anya he gives her his ring. Sergey is a cop and together he and Anya look for Stas.
I really liked this story. It was definitely different from anything I’ve ever read before. But that is not a bad thing as far as I am concerned. This has a little bit of everything: ghosts, revenge, murder, romance, drama, Siren, and so much more. I liked the ins and outs of the story alot as well as the characters and i recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
