Great Antenna - some minor design issues
Very well made, thick and sturdy. Receives VHF and UHF like a champ. One design problem, if you have to change cables you have to remove three small screws that lock the base of the discone to the support tube. One of those screws is blocked by a radial, so you have to also remove that radial, which takes a small hex wrench. Each time, the dent in the radial gets deeper when you reset the hex screw. They could position the lock screws to all be between radials.Update - I finally got around to checking SWR: I have it on a 15 ft birdhouse pole, 35 ft of lmr-400 from antenna to grounding bar, then 15 ft lmr-400 to receiver (analyzer in this case). With the 2 m wand installed, in addition to great ~850 scanner reception, this is great for 2 m receive/transmit as well.

The Sirio is a well built antenna that I was able to assembled in a short amount of time. It replaced a Tram discone antenna. It does very well on the VHF/UHF Military/Civilian air bands. And I noticed improvement on the 700/800/900 MHz bands compared to other discones. Overall I am happy with this antenna. Be sure to follow the assembly instructions and you can't go wrong. I have used the Diamond, Tram, and the Comet discone antennas over many years and the Sirio performs just as well, and maybe a little better on VHF/UHF bands than the Diamond and Comet did. I use LMR400 coax and the antenna is at 35 feet on a push up pole.

This antenna is replacing a Diamond Discone that has been up for a few years but suffered storm damage. Reading the reviews the Sirio seemed to be a good choice and it was! I was surprised at the size of the Sirio, it is somewhat compact especially compared to my older discone. Size is not an issue, at least for this antenna! Assembly was easy except for the fact that you cannot assemble the radials before assembling the pipe, they get in the way of the screws. Not a big deal at all.

With this antenna I use 75' of LMR400 cable with an N connector at the antenna itself. It comes down to my Uniden SDS200 scanner. I have always had decent reception but without a doubt my reception has improved, not substantially but there is an improvement. I listen to several P25 Phase 2 public safety as well as standard P25 departments. I am seeing better RSSI readings for most sites and especially VHF sites.

While slightly more expensive than some but not as much as others I am very happy with this choice, YMMV!

I've had all the usual discone antennas over the years (Diamond, Radio Shack sadly) but this one is far superior to any I've ever used or seen. Made in Italy of chromed brass, stainless and anodized aluminum the quality is truly outstanding. Nice thick down tube that will never bend or dent or break in winds (guessing here) below 500 mph. All the components are beautifully machined and drilled.Complete English instructions and SWR plots. Nice sealed bags for the mounting hardware and screws. Even in the packaging the concern for quality shows.
The center whip is for 145 MHz and can be left off if not required.
Performance is equally impressive and just mounted temporarily on a tripod in my yard about 8 feet from the ground (using LMR400 N) I'm picking up stations I never heard on my Diamond N discone mounted 20 feet up.
Ordered yesterday around 3PM and by 7PM it was on it's way UPS overnight for $7. Arrived this morning. Nice!

This little antenna really pulls in station's that were marginal. Only complaint was missing set screws. I had some in a parts bin so it worked itself out.

Somewhat of an early review, but this is a small, sturdy little discone that works great. Currently using it to pick up ADS-B transmissions, but have also used it for some SDR work and it performs great. I can't give a very good review yet as I have not gotten it outside my house due to property issues, but I should have it setup outside shortly and I expect it will perform just as well.
Engineering is solid and the whole thing feels really well-built, nothing flops around at all. Came with a short pipe which slips onto the base utilizing a o-ring around the center of the antenna to prevent water from running down into the pipe and getting onto the connector, which means you can probably leave your N connector un-taped inside and not have to worry about water intrusion.

Overall seems to be a great unit.

I cannot believe this is authentic Sirio quality. The parts are hollow radials with cheesy plastic anti crish inserts. The whip did not have a 146mhz coil so was useless for 2m transmit. The whip base was shorted. This is not anything like expect. I came in a cut up flat rate box taped into a triangle packed without padding so the internal parts were loose in a bag anf the solid base slammed so hard in transit it knocked the mounting tube sideways and bent.
I will contact Sirio about this apparent unprofessional product and share my disappointment in their choice of exclusive channel outlet. They need a better professional seller. I should have inspected, assembled and right away run it on the anylizer. My loss now. Ill order the Diamond next time.
