You can use up to two eggs and whatever mix-ins you want or have on hand. I always add a splash of milk too for fluffiness. I cook in the microwave on high for one minute with the vent close, then another two minutes with the vent open. When all is said and done I have a three minute breakfast that cooks on its own while I'm getting ready. Note: the more filling you put in, the less egg it's going to fit and it can overflow. I also find it to be very nonstick. The frittata just slid right out without any trouble.
Seriously though, this device couldn't have been easier to use and gave me a fine two-egg scramble in just over 2 minutes. It tasted great, the texture was soft and fluffy (for those of you who have microwaved eggs before, you know how tough they can get) it was TOTALLY worth the time and money to purchase this item. I will look for reasons to buy other Sistema products because of this Egg Cookware!
The Sistema is relatively easy to operate and clean. One can scramble up to two eggs. However, if you add extras for making an omelet, as I did, the mixture will start squeezing out of the red container. It is truly intended for one egg. Directions are provided. I modified them slightly. For example, my microwave oven uses a turntable. I learned that I don't need to whisk the eggs after forty seconds. I merely vent the round plastic container and stick it back into the microwave oven for another forty seconds. I made plain scrambled eggs and I have also added ingredients found around my kitchen for making an "omelet." To the egg mixture, I added a large black olive that had been sliced and diced, a spear of red bell pepper that had also been sliced and diced, and a sprinkle of shredded mild cheddar cheese.
I also added to the egg mixture some salt, pepper and Chipotle Seasoning from Tastefully Simple. You can always search your refrigerator and cabinets for spices and vegetables that will "jazz up" your egg. Initially, I didn't have a "splash" of milk to add. I used ordinary tap water. Later, I used milk and the egg tasted better. I heated up two slices of New York Texas Toast Five Cheese in my toaster oven. I used these to create a sandwich with my omelet. The sandwich tasted fantastic. It was fattening, but I don't care. There are some written directions for using the Sistema. I suggest keeping them for further reference inside a folder with other paperwork or inside the Sistema itself. One can also scan it and store it on one's computer. The Sistema was easy to clean. I merely used soapy water and a bristle brush to gently scrub it. Because the container is being microwaved for only forty second intervals, I doubt that the plastic will ever melt or food particles will become permanently imbedded within its walls.
Initially, I had some difficulty opening the Sistema's vent. There is a hinged door on the top. You push down, gently but firmly, on the side where the word "OPEN" is etched. The other side of the door, next to a symbol showing steam, will pop open. As I stated earlier, I microwaved my egg for forty seconds, opened the vent, and then microwaved for another forty seconds. I didn't need to stir or whisk the egg. My microwave has a turntable. The Sistema 1117 Easy Eggs Microwave Cookware is great for one person. Unless you have several of these, it would be difficult to feed two or more people. For an entire family, a non-stick skillet is the best option. When I've had a craving for a plate of scrambled eggs, I've used a blender to create the egg mixture which I pour into a non-stick skillet. The result is some delicious eggs. Nevertheless, the Sistema 1117 Easy Eggs Microwave Cookware is great for one person, especially when they are creating an egg muffin. I would love to cook with some of the other kitchen products from Sistema.
this product makes a perfect fit egg. the cooking sequence is experimental - but you will figure it out....
This product is covered and have a vent so that must be doing something, right?
I do know that this thing can take 1-2 eggs plus toppings and if you follow the instructions it comes out great.
