FROM TWO-MILLION-SELLING AUTHOR STEENA HOLMES AN UNPUTDOWNABLE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER.

My twin sister disappeared twelve years ago.

Jess went missing on our way home from school. We were sixteen. Dad’s golden rule was
Never walk home alone. But I was in a hurry and she was flirting with boys. She just vanished. No word. No sightings. Nothing. My family destroyed.

I blame myself. And I won’t ever give up looking for her.

Each year, on the anniversary of Jess’s disappearance, a bunch of flowers is delivered to our home, along with a note. Two words:
I’m sorry.

It’s the only clue we’ve ever had as to what happened. Until the day I get a text:
I found her.

And in my desperation to know the truth, I’m walking into a carefully-laid trap . . .

The truth about what happened to my twin is even worse than I could ever have imagined.

AN EXHILARATING BLEND OF BREATHTAKING SUSPENSE AND NAIL-BITING TENSION WITH A SHATTERING FINAL TWIST BY A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR.

Please note this is a revised edition of Lies We Tell Ourselves.

I really love this book. It was totally addictive. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down. The mystery never gave away any secrets and neither will I. Read this book and find out about the sisters.

The first half of the book was a little slow, but the last half was very exciting. I was pretty easy to guess who the kidnapper is really early in the book, but it is still interesting to read about why he/she does it.

Read this book In a night, unfortunately I figured it out pretty earlier but still very much enjoyed the book. Looking forward to the next one!

This was a great read, only reason I didn't do 5 stars is the rehashing of the main character's turmoil. It was repeated over and over even though it had already been greatly explained. Seems like it was a "filler" to draw out the storyline when there were many other areas that could have been utilized. Other than that it was a good read.

Great story, brings awareness of sex trafficking, and the people behind the scene trying to save them. With a twist at the end that most will not see coming.

Ending stinks. Leads to a heart throbbing exciting ending then it ends like that. Just think they should have had another chapter to sum everything up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 13, 2024
This is one heart breaking read, that has you feeling enraged, puzzled, distraught as well as heart broken. This is all due to the thoughts and horror highlighted in this book. It has based around twin sisters. One Jess, whom goes missing at a young age and the turmoil the other twin, paige, and her family go through. Paige later works for a company whom searches and helps missing children and adults to help look for jess, but also others like her. Their are many twists in this story and lots of upsetting and heartache. I loved the characters and how you felt so connected to them, feeling their anguish and pain. I also loved how this highlighted the issue and brought home how awful it is for everyone concerned not just during but after the incidents. It is a good easy, nicely paced read, that has you engrossed. A fascinating insight into this world of heart breaking devastation. Fully recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic

Brilliant. I loved this book. It was my first time reading a Steena Holmes novel and I think I have just found my new favorite author.
This novel was pacy, exciting and kept me guessing to the very final reveal. I had my suspicions but just I thought I was right, an expertly piece of dialogue or action from another character put my off the scent.
The subject matter of human trafficking, physical, mental and phycological abusive was managed in a sensitive manner, while still sounded believable and every bit as traumatic as the situation would be. If it was possible to give this book more than 5 stars I would have.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 10, 2024
I found this book started off slow but got interesting and more fast paced throughout the book. I’m not sure it’s it’s because I read a lot of thrillers but I guessed what had happened about half way through the book. Still a good read that I would recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1st thriller.
Reviewed in Australia on April 23, 2024
Being my 1st thriller I have to say I wasn't really thrilled by it.
I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the plot and characters. I felt the ending was rushed, like the author just wanted to tie up the loose ends quickly and without much fuss.
I did enjoy watching the characters discover who was in the hospital bed. Like it's our secret to know and they have to work for it.

I'm giving it 3.5 stars. I didn't fi d it very thrilling or psychological. The twist wasn't shocking or unpredictable. I enjoyed it but it wasn't heart pounding edge of your seat.
