To pour drip-free, simply push the lever. Releasing the lever re-seals it. For easy filling and cleaning, the attached lid opens all the way.

Most of my cookware is from the All-Clad stainless steel line, as I require pots that are made of magnetic steel in order to work with my induction cooktop. I also like the workmanship of the All-Clad pots. I bought this Sitram stockpot after returning a similar pot by All-clad, having found, contrary to stipulation, that it was not induction capable.

The Sitram pots are sturdy, durable, and perform as represented. They are not as perfectly finished as the pricey All-Clads, but this need not concern you unless you are a well-heeled perfectionist. While the Sitram pots have a thick steel-aluminum-steel sandwich in their base, the aluminum does not extend up the sides. The All-Clads claim to have an aluminum core throughout the pot, but in my experience this is not a vital distinction.

I made my first batch of stock a few days ago using my new Sitram stockpot. I began by browning the chicken parts and onions in the stockpot on my induction cooktop, and can report that the Sitram pot performed admirably, distributing heat evenly throughout its base, and permitting an even and well-controlled browning of the food. Subsequent simmering of the stock also went very well.

Given its attractive price and solid capabilities, I can endorse this Sitram cookware without reserve.

I ordered this stockpot about a year ago and absolutely LOVE it! We've retired two old stockpots and use this one all the time. Sauce doesn't stick, the pot heats evenly, and it's easy to clean. It's not too big for a home kitchen, but it's sizable enough to end up with 10 quarts (after cooking all day). The heavy bottom distributes the heat, nothing scorches, and we can let sauce or stock simmer all day without worrying at all about sticking.

I bought this with the Sitram 11 inch catering lid, both of which I would highly recommend. The pot is very well constructed of quality materials and is not made in China but France. I needed a larger pot for making chicken stock (which I do weekly or biweekly) and this fits a 5 pound bird with plenty of room to spare for all the vegetables. It also comes in handy for brining the turkey at Thanksgiving and cooking a large pot of soup or chili for a crowd. Even though this is a large sturdy pot, it is surprisingly light and I have no problems cleaning it in the sink. I expect this pot to last for my lifetime, and and I am very satisfied with my purchase. It is worth paying the extra money for a quality product that won't need to be replaced and has no questionable health risks. I would buy anything made by Sitram.
