What I like about Kaitlyn Brooke is the way she describes the characters and sets up the scenes. For example in the very first chapter when Glahivar the assassin is transformed. I can picture the demon opening her eyes and not knowing what she is. And when Brooke describes the maggots falling off Astrobal’s body, it sent a shiver down my spine. You can also feel the silks and textures of the clothes and the cold from the snow covered grounds in Brooke’s words and imagery.
In this book you will also find stories wound around each other. The assassin Glahivar’s real reason to hunt down Anwyn or Ambros versues Moran. Who is deceiving who. Lots of action and different outcomes makes this fantasy a good read.
The plot picks up where it left off - if you haven't read the previous stories you won't really understand what's going on at first, though you'll figure it out eventually. The Six are looking to go back to their calling and heal the Trueni, half-human, half-animal creatures. Jarah and Tegan's daughter, Anwyn, is a powerful crystal user, who's genetic code is the key to a new weapon, one that the Six's enemies and the Six themselves have not yet discovered. Anwyn must find a way to protect her family, herself and the world from destruction as she is pursued by the Raven in her new, horrible form, but she has many old and new allies to help her on the way.
If you're a fantasy lover, you'll appreciate this read.
The story was easy to follow, and i appreciated how the author adds little bits of the last book at different intervals to bring everyone up to speed. It was anice reminder, even though i read the last book only a couple days ago. I like how this story is not super dependant on the others in the series, you could pick up this book and enjoy it even if you had not read the previous. I think each one of these stories is a good adventure all its own, the others in the series only add to the intrigue and enjoyment. I really enjoyed this book along with the others. I really do not want this to be the end of THE SIX !
Once again katlynn has brought forward the six once again and introduces the reader to a round of new characters into the mix. They’re on a mission to try and save all those around them from destruction. In each book, they get a little bit closer to accomplishing that goal. Will they get to it in this one? Will they bring peace this time? The answers are quite interesting!
I enjoyed the journey she created for them. Even though her books could be placed in the YA genre, I think they’re for anyone who loves fantasy with a mix of action. The books can be read as standalone, but as a series, it’s better and gives a level of depth and complexity that works so well together. I look forward to reading more work by Katlynn.
As always, the worlds of this series is richly detailed and provide a huge backdrop for the many different factions that the Six encounter, and the obstacles the Six face are epic in scope. I like how well the relationships are developed between the families and friends, it gives a lot of weight to the dangers they face.
