This was my first book I have read from Sara v. Zook and it did not dissapoint me.
I really enjoyed it.
A slow build up to a the point where Nicky & Lilah meet each other and then.....
Well DONE Sara.
I cant wait to read Volume 2!
Nicky's sick mother is back home in Lazerne, fighting cancer, which is spreading quickly. His mother asked him to go see Carmine and do what he needs him to do. She said Carmine would pay him in cash and that would help with their bills and allow her to get more chemo. Nicky was in Haven, New York when he hooked up with Carmine and his crew...Seton, Remmy, the Triplets, Augie and Hagan. Everyone knew Carmine had a certain interest in Nicky but didn't know why.
Nicky's first night out with Seton was not what he expected. Seton shot a man in the head right in front of Nicky and he wasn't really expecting it. When he got outside, he couldn't help but empty his stomach. Nicky didn't know what he was getting himself into and wanted nothing more than to get back to his mother's house to help care for her.
Nicky soon realized being with Carmine's crew got him a cell phone, a beautiful, fully furnished house along with a sleek new black sports car. Women were throwing themselves at him and he could have his pick of the litter.
There was one thing though, he wasn't comfortable with killing anyone or carrying a gun. Seton basically forces Nicky to kill someone and he does.
The first night Nicky is sent out alone to do a simple job of dropping off a package and getting paid ends up a lot different than anyone could have imagined. He ended up having 6 guns on him when he gets pulled over for speeding. This being the reason for his new nickname, "Six Guns"
When he finally is able to deliver the package, he pulls over to look up the address and that is when he ends up meeting Lilah Cross.Read more ›
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
This was a totally different genre of reading for me. Just like the city of Haven sucks Nicky Cain in, 6 Guns sucked me in. I loved the adventures and the love that blossoms. Thumbs up to Sara V Zook for a book well written!

Another amazing read by Sara.
Welcome to the world of Nicky Cain, he knows what he wants and will do anything to get it. Trying to support his sick mother, he takes a job with a “friend” of hers and finds out, he may not be cut out for the mob life.
Lilah Cross, losing herself in a horrible marriage and alienating her family to do it, figures out some things are not what they seem. She tries to end her marriage with violence, but ends up needing help in the worst way… Enter Nicky Cain.
Both Nicky and Lilah are looking for a better future, will they be able to find what they want from each other and build it together, or will the lies that are in their past keep them apart?
This book is unique, original, and fresh. Written from each main characters point of view, it flows excellently and gives the reader a great perspective of how their minds work. Twists that you don’t see coming and an ending that makes you want more!
I love this book and can’t wait to see what happens to Nicky and Lilah in the next book, there is so much more to come.
From the synopsis, I had some expectations of settling in for a good read. The problem, with the synopsis is, it only gave us a brief interlude to Nicky, it never once mentions Lilah (the heroine). I honestly don't even know where or how she actually fits into the story. What I got was two different stories of two different people leafing two very different lives.
The heroine, a senator's daughter now disowned and married to a man that has cheated, had a baby by another woman and threatens to financially clean his wife out if she leaves him. Then we have what I guess is the hero. A man who's mom tells him to go see a friend of hers and he will help pay for her cancer treatments and other bills. Sometime during this, the hero, for reasons unknown (by chapter 24) has now joined the mob.
I'll also add that neither the hero or heroine have even met or crossed paths at this point (chapter 25, page 259, 59%). I kept thinking at some point they shouldn't crossed paths or at least already met but as I keep reading, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Both the h/h don't seem to really have a grasp on life. Lilah, time and time again keeps getting sucked in by Mark. There was one scene after she finds out Mark had gotten another woman pregnant that after he's gone for nearly a week she thinks he's gone for good, only he comes home with his son with him and tells her to look after him while he sleeps. Lilah, of courses rants and yells but looks after that baby and when Mark wakes he threatens to financially clean her out calling her selfish when she tells him she wants a divorce.Read more ›
