Presenting a brand new look for the Big Shot! With a sleek white and gray color scheme and the Sizzix logo embossed on the handle, this version of the Big Shot Machine offers plenty of stylish appeal with the same versatility of working with the entire Sizzix product library (with the exception of Big Plus and Big Pro dies) - including our smallest to our big 6" wide plastic-backed dies and embossing tools. If that wasn't big enough, this portable roller machine cuts and embosses many different materials. Create your own one-of-a-kind cards, invitations, scrapbook pages, home decor, fashion, altered art, quilting and much more! (To ensure compatibility, always check machine and accessory requirements. Machine accessories may be sold separately.) Included with the Big Shot are a pair of Standard Cutting Pads and the adjustable Extended Multipurpose Platform, which makes all Sizzix components thinner than a Big Die compatible with the Big Shot Machine and even works with other brands' dies and embossing tools! The diagrams on the Extended Multipurpose Platform offer easy guidelines about how to make the perfect Sizzix sandwich. If you like the look instead, check out our classic Powder Blue & Teal model Big Shot machine. Measures approximately 14 1/4" x 12 3/8" x 6 5/8" and features a 3-year limited warranty. Construction: Solid core steel rollers, anybody cast roller housing, solid steel gears, ABS plastic exterior. With the Sizzix Big Shot, the only limit is your own imagination - now that's a big deal, even for a Big Shot.

First time users: Expect some initial confusion learning some of the names of the tools: extended multipurpose platform, impressions pad, silicone rubber mat
, etc. Most of these accessories have to be purchased separately, so make sure you add them with your order if there is a specific item you want to do that requires it.
Another learning curve is familiarizing yourself with the die names such as: Thinlits, wafer-thin die, Framelits, etc. Also building "a sandwich" takes time to learn, Videos help.
Also be prepared to see one of the acrylic boards get scratched. I though I had done something wrong, but that is the way it was supposed to be.
I just have this machine as you can use some of the other brand dies and embossing folders with it.
Good luck and have fun!
I do love this machine, though. I use it to cut felt and it does a nice job. Better on real wool felt, it cuts like butter but the acrylic you need to have card stock paper under it. And if the felt is really thin, you need two pc. of card stock. Someone else mentioned this as well in their review on a die cut set. Just a pointer for those who want to cut more than paper with it....it will do it!!! Just remember to buy your own die set! :)
The extended platform is so nice and the machine so sturdy! I can even say that it embosses better than the Cuttlebug with my Fiskars plates.
I can use my Cuttlebug C plate instead of the impression pad!
So, I love my new Sizzix!
I have had this machine for more than a year now and I am as satisfied as the first day!
I have embosed copy paper, cardstock, vellum, copper and aluminum.
If you are going to use Spellbienders embossing folders you need to create your own shim. Spellbinders embossing folders are awesome but they have a very special thickness (they are thicker than Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Darice or Paper Studio).
I still have my Cuttlebug, but I prefer to use my Sizzix because it is much more stable that my Cuttlebug. The main two reasons for me to like this over the Cuttlebug are the longer platform and the stability.
As for the instructions, you can go to Youtube and you are going to find a lot of videos lo learn a lot of things. And the extended platform states very clearly, when you need to use each one of the different parts of it.
