An awesome, yet challenging, skateboarding game.

"Skate" is EA's entry into action sports games. The game is far different than the Tony Hawk games because of its innovative FlickIt control system. If you haven't played this game before, FlickIt is a simplified control system that utilizes both analog thumbsticks. You use one thumbstick to control the direction your skater is heading, and the other is used to perform tricks. No more frequent button mashing combos to memorize. However, it may take you a while to get used to using the thumbsticks, so before you start a career, you should go through the Tutorial first. You'll learn how to use the thumbsticks to move your character and perform tricks. You use two of the buttons on your controller to push your character to gain speed. Once you've finished the Tutorial, go to Free Skate mode and try out what you've learned. Once you've got used to the FlickIt system, start your Career and own the streets and skate parks. The graphics are incredible, almost life-like and the soundtrack is good. Xbox 360 users can use custom soundtracks if they wish. My only complaint is that they could have made the FlickIt system a little easier to master. If you're into skateboarding and are looking for a challenging game and an alternative to the Tony Hawk franchise, then this game is perfect for you.
