I bought a pair of these shoes in a shoe store after trying on more than a dozen other pair. I was looking for THE pair of shoes that when I put them on, my feet said, "AAAAHHHHH." These were those shoes for me.
Because everyone's feet are different, it may be a different pair of shoes for you, but these were it for me.
I wore those store-bought shoes for more than two years, and when they wore out, I came looking here on Amazon for that exact same make, style number, and color. That was these shoes.
I bought these from Amazon and wore them for two months. Then I came back to Amazon, bought ANOTHER pair of these shoes, and when they arrived, I put the two-months-used shoes in the new shoes box, and am now wearing that second pair. I have just worn that second pair of shoes all day long, every day of a 17-day vacation trip that included hiking mountain trails in Grand Teton National Park.
The shoes are still comfortable (I'm wearing them as I write this), and I won't mind continuing to wear them as long as they last. I am even going to buy another pair of these shoes in all black, for occasions when white shoes are not appropriate.
Yes, I am pleased with these shoes, and have no hesitation awarding them five stars.
On one pair of shoes, I attempted to remedy the situation myself by removing the factory insole. Just a word of caution. These insoles are glued in; it is near impossible to remove the factory insole. If you use custom orthodics or insoles, these are not the shoes for you. I tore the factory insoles out piece by piece and then scraped the inside bottom of the shoe with an old round nose butter knife to remove pretty much all of the factory insole. After removing the factory insole, I inserted my own insoles, but it did not remedy the problem.
Some how or another these shoes are being manufactured as quickly and cheaply as possible with blatant disregard as to whether or not they are going to be usable. Shame on our American corporations for putting us in this position.
We bought two pair, exchanged one, and in three pairs of shoes none were usable due to discomfort, foot pain and lumpiness. I destroyed the insoles in one pair, but ended up returning the other two.
I walk on both pavement and sidewalk so it's almost like I'm walking in socks. There is NO shock absorption at all. However, after visiting the local store for cushioned inserts this problem was solved. Don't get me wrong, the shoes are attractive and okay for walking around without a fast pace. But if you want a shoe that feels like walking on marshmallow's then this is NOT your shoe.
Instead of returning these like I should I'm just going to keep them as "knock around" shoes and I'll go back to another brand. There's always a risk of buying items without trying them on so in this case the brand name Skecher's didn't hold their reputation.
What a shame.
Construction....another story. I have had Sketchers many times before and like them, except for those flimsy little leather lace eyes... very weak point. My orthopedist made me a set of those horribly expensive foot molded inserts and pushed a pair of $100+ New Balance on me. Yes good shoes but like most , I walk a lot for work and am somewhat bow legged which causes outside heel to wear out before medial side. I thought if the shoe is going to wear to the point of useless in 6-7 months hard walking... find one that fits as well for less. These Sketchers fit the bill. Good fit, support, and reasonable priced. I'm going to order 2 more pair next pay day and rotate them to make them last longer
