Not gon' get techy but will prove a valid point in pure honesty.
This program is great. It's full of shortcuts and cool features. A perfect tool for sketch artist and more. The primary reason I purchased this program (after the trial expired) is really because of one simple (yet amazingly unique) feature that many (if not all) other artistic programs do not have...the ability to let YOU control the pen for once. Can you relate? Whether it be a mouse, touch pad or touch pen, this bad boy delivers a huge blow to its competitors. Let me put you in my shoes for a sec: You have a touch screen laptop, you're trying your hardest to draw on your screen with its "specialized" touch pen but one tiny issue hits your artwork having a striking domino effect to all others that follow...YOU CAN'T CONTROL IT. What do you do? Calibrate? Doesn't work, it only makes things worst. Now your drawings come out all wobbly and fuzzy because your hand is just not as steady on a screen as it would be on a page. "Okay? Just practice than." Nope. Don't have to. Just use the Steady Stroke feature and you'll finally have your pen follow your pen strokes for a change. That alone just saved you months (possibly years) on reteaching yourself how to draw. Need I say more? Just try the risk free trail and feel it out a bit. You'll see what I'm talking about.

I decided to publish an old picture book I created for my grandchildren years ago and maybe do a series. To speed up the project and add something new in my life I decided to teach myself how to use computer drawing programs. I looked around the net and Sketchbook looked like the best choice for what I was going to do, so I tried the sample. It seemed pretty miraculous and I bought Sketchbook and a Monoprice electronic pad. I found right away that there is a problem controlling the image size when scanning in pictures. It can be overcome by trial and error, but no solutions have been posted as yet and though I solved my problem I am not sure HOW I did it,(I think sizing the image with the scanner is what worked). Finding the User's Manual was also difficult because it was NOT listed first or anywhere else on the help menu. Manufactures would sell more units if when loading software a desk icon for user instructions loaded automatically that the user could just delete if they didn't want it. Other than those two problems I still think that Sketchbook is absolutely fabulous. I have to set a timer so I get up and walk around every hour because I get so immersed in it. Even in the hands of a total novice Sketchbook is fast and fun. I think this product would not only be a great workhorse for the professional, but an outstanding gift for talent young people.

The self-described "intuitive interface" is overly simplistic and error-prone. Those problems compound the lack of drawing features and control capabilities. It might be acceptable as a sketching program (hence the name), and it's really cheap, but you already have a real drawing program there is no reason to look twice at this. If they put all these features in their Android App, then that would be a decent tablet sketch program, but it's underwhelming on a PC. It's more frustration than freedom. If you want to save money (instead of buying Photoshop/Illustrator), then Manga Studio 5 is actual affordable alternative...this is not.

Not much new here, but still my go-to sketching application when I'm in a hurry. Still disappointed there is no built-in, adjustable grid overlay function. Needs a bump in maximum pixel resolution and a rewrite to be 64bit, allowing access to larger amounts of RAM. If you like to work large, or at very high pixel densities, Sketchbook Pro will not meet your needs. I like to work at a 300 ppi minimum, which becomes problematic or impossible due to the 6400x6400 ceiling. Otherwise, this is still an effective, efficient tool for generating digital sketches.

In this technology and computer driven world, there are tons of software applications available for just any platform available. There are many options to the end user both for the professional and general consumer. This is especially true with software that is designed for artistic expression. I bought the full version of this software for my teenage daughter after a friend of hers gave her a scaled down version that had been bundled with a hardware drawing device. Although she loved the scaled down version she quickly learned that there was some limitations.

After downloading the software, my daughter immediately put it to work. She has spent countless hours creating, designing artwork, logos, T-Shirts and just about everything in between. For the small investment that this software cost I would sat that my ROI was %1000. Although I do not use it myself I can say from the perspective of a parent that it is highly recommended. The software is very intuitive and can produce very impressive and professional results.

Very easy to use. If you're familiar with Sketchbook Express, then this should be easy for to adapt to. It has more features such as being able to add many more than 5 layers, set your own brushes, more extensive color wheel and a variety of other things I haven't even figured out what to do with yet.
Overall, I am pleased with the software.
I didn't give it a 5 out of 5 because I'm not particularly blown away by it. This is a great program to learn to play with, but if you're a pro, you may get bored with it ( not saying I'm a pro). It depends on your art style and personal preference really. It suits my needs well, plus it was only twenty bucks :)

Unusable on my tablet PC since the menu bar won't resize when tablet flipped to portrait orientation. Complete waste of money -- until they fix this problem it's impossible for me to even try out the program's capabilities.
