Ann Marie Frohoff has written it so well it transports you back in time and makes you remember what it felt like to be 14 and in the first flush of that first crush when you feel you may die if you don’t see them right there and then, making you do crazy things like sneak out of the house, and spend all day day-dreaming about them. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series, if they are half as good as this book they will be amazing.
Skid Out by Ann Marie Frohoff is the prequel to the Heavy Influence Trilogy. This is the beginning of Jake and Alyssa’s story. It will introduce you to the two main characters and the secondary's also.
Jake Masters is a seventeen year old high school senior. Jake and his friend started a band and put out their first song. The band is on it’s way up. Jake is thinking of being home schooled for his last year so he can concentrate on his music. That’s until the girl next door, who he has known forever become something special. He just can't seem to get her out of his head.
Alyssa Montgomery is fourteen and find herself living next to an up and coming rocker. As Alyssa and Jake spend more time together, she starts having feeling for him. Their budding relationship could cause problems with their friends, family and the band.
This book is full of young love and big decisions. This is a great beginning novella to the Heavy Influence Series.
Jake is on his way to star-dom. Mini tours, rehearsals, meetings with agents it's all very big time for a garage band, but it's what Jake has always wanted.
Alyssa is the girl next door. Fourteen year old Aly has just grown a new appreciation for her nearly 18 year old neighbor, Jake. Courtesy of her friend, Nadine, Aly has taken a sudden interest in Jake's impossibly good looks and charm. Yet, it's not that typical "I'm a rocker" charm, it's more "boy next door" charm. Convenient, right?
Anyway, we get this in a dual POV. We begin and end with Jake and Aly's POV provides the meat of this novella.
Can this whirlwind flirtation spring into something more? Will Jake and Aly see where this leads or will they call it off before it leaves the ground?
I love this novella and the first book in this series is amazing. You should read them sooner rather than later.

All these thoughts are killing me

Five Rocking Stars
I was excited to read this book. I am totally in a band book vibe lately and this was a novella that is a prequel to the series. I wanted to see how it started. See them as they grew and definitely if you want to start off the series this is where you want to begin.
“You can’t do anything, and I see why he’s such a hard -.”
“She’s only fourteen,” she said drly. “She doesn’t look fourteen.”
I loved Jake from the beginning. He was not overly cocky, someone who makes mistakes and that was what high school was about.
Alyssa she is fourteen years old and living next to Jake for most of her life. Her brother being good friends with Jake and of course part of his band she never looked at Jake any other way until her best friend looks at him and notices him.
You get to hear both the voices of Jake and Alyssa, the seventeen year old and fourteen year old them and really see what life was like. Full of mistakes, wonder and figuring yourself out in the mists of puberty at it’s finest.
