It's been a long time since a game has made me feel awesome. Not just emotionally involved in a plot or character's well-being, but downright, if I may, badass.

This game makes you feel like a badass.

Specifically, a badass charismatic Air Pirate. It's refreshing to have a protagonist who's willingly involved in the plot for a change, rather than merely being pulled along. I actually feel like the main character would annoy me in another game, but in a game with this much personality and action, he fits right in!

I could wax poetic about the huge amount of exploration in this game, or the fun of battles (and air battles, where you get to have actual ship-fights with other pirates -- it's so neat!), or the fantastic dialogue, but others have done this far better than I have. what I can say is that if you own any system capable of playing GameCube games, then you need this one. Plain and simple, this is a classic, a masterwork of the generation, and it shouldn't be missed.

Now my oldest son is really into them and decided he had to have this and spent all of his birthday money on it. The game is enjoyable and he has put many hours into. The quality of this Used item was perfect. we have had no problems with it whatsoever and are very pleased with it. The case looked good, the booklet was included and the disc was spotless. very happy with this transaction.

Skies of Arcadia is a game with a real sense of exploration. The game shuns most cliches of plot and character development by including memorable characters you actually care about rather than cartoon cliches. The gameplay and combat is simple and but addictive and memorable. The game continually expands, dishing up new types of gameplay and unique areas to explore in your airship. Ship combat and the crew system further enhances the variety.

Keep in mind that this GameCube remake tones down the battles significantly, fixing the main problem that some had with the original DreamCast remake. The visuals are very last-generation (maybe even before that), but you'll be caught up so much in the experience that you won't mind.

For its time, Skies of Arcadia is an impressive, well-made RPG. However, it hasn't aged as well as some of its cohorts, which causes it to feel a bit more stale today than it would have during its original release on the Sega Dreamcast.

First, the good: the graphics are generally impressive for the platform, about equal to a latter-day PS1 or very early PS2 title. Controls are tight and generally responsive, and it's not immediately apparent that the game is a port--something that's generally undervalued. There are some interesting mechanics, particularly the ability to change characters' attack elements at will, the shared magic/limit break point pool, and the airship battles. The music is superb, equal to or better than anything in other RPG's of any age.

There are some significant drawbacks, however. While the game world is vividly rendered, the story that transpires within it is not. JRPG tropes are trotted out by the basketful: the evil empire bent on world domination, the mysterious mage girl, the ancient artifacts of incredible power, etc. This template has worn out its welcome in recent years, and I was hoping that Skies of Arcadia would be more original in that regard. Finally, as others have noted, the random encounter rate is ridiculously high and there are too few airship battles. By the end of the game you'll be longing for more ship combat and less ground combat.

Overall, the game is a worthwhile buy if you can find it, especially since it is Wii-compatible and JRPG's, even traditional ones, are rare on Nintendo platforms post-SNES.

This game is fun and a classic. You can change the types of your weapons in battle to attempt to counter enemy types with a simple button click. Ship battles are amazing. Regular battles are just as fun, and probably amazed people of the generation because if the way area of effect attacks worked in battle: taking in account the enemy location.

As a hardcore RPG gamer, I Absolutely love Skies Of Arcadia in overall gameplay quality. It guarantees at least 60 hours of gameplay, with a unique turn-based battle system utilizing party conformity as well individual party member abilities. It even incorporates non party member involvement in delivering the final blow. The game's story takes place in the distant future where what land is left floats in the sky after the cataclysm that destroyed the world that was consumed by greed. In this future, you will follow Vyse and Aika, two sky pirates who leave home on an adventure one day to find that the men of their homeland has been captured by the Valuan Empire and are due to be executed, and lead off to save their families and ultimately the world from the Valuans who seek to use the same ancient technology that destroyed the world in the past to control it. This is a game that any RPG fan would enjoy and it ranks up along side Final Fantasy and the Tales Series in overall gameplay.
