Mark is number three son of the Duke of Wardington. He’s the last man standing, as it were. His two brothers are now happily married men. His friends, at least some of them, are happily married. He is happily married to his scientific endeavors. He finds all women, except for the spouses of his most near and dear, vastly insipid. They are dull and know-nothings, good for scratching his itch when needed, and not verbalizing to give him a headache.
The College gives him a chore - - - tutor a female, see if she can learn anything. If she can, then the College can earn its charter. First, a female is chosen, Lady June. Through a comedy of errors, Mark treats June as a light skirt he had invited over to scratch his itch. After that fiasco he cannot tutor her on a one on one personal basis.
Round and Round, back and forth, more confusion ensues, while lives go on and the Duke sniggers in the background. After all, his bet and the results thereof rests on how this all turns out. The tables get turned, the hunter becomes the prey, and we all have a very merry time. Join in on the fun. Does the Duke win his bet? Does Mark prove he has what it takes to teach a woman scientific theory? Will you have as much fun and enjoyment as I did reading this story? Try it…you’ll like it!

There are romance novels in abundance that transport visionaries to a Netherlands of masked feelungs, uncertainties regarding the mutuality of rampant emotions, and pounding and vibrating, yet, controlled erotic respinsea. But,such nuances are the very fabric from which romance novels are formed. But ,somehow, someway,Eleanor Myers,in The Skills of a Scoundrel, transports one from the realm of formulaic romance novel to an entirely new galaxy of Romance,Mystery, hidden secrets, dual natures, and mates of the soul wading through each other's flaws and strengths to eventually unite in extraordinary, magical love!!!But ,it is not the destination thatcaptivates one in this novel for the destination is already known.Rather,it ..is ...the ...journey that this writer crafts so well that causes her plots to come alive within one's soul and taunts us into becoming one with a proud heroine seeking to maintain self in the fiery flames of a once in a lifetime love!!What a journey!!!!Yet,it is a journey that never ends for Ms.Myers is to readers what Netflix is to visual Bingers....Through her serialized chakra ters, she keeps the stories just rollicking..along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who is a fan of regency or historical romance will need to pull up a comfortable seat and plan to become immersed in the English aristocracy of the narrow-minded 1800's. The characters, flaws and strengths, with serious mysteries woven in, will royally entertain you with their daily foibles and failings in their attempts at impossibly strict adherence to the social morays of the times. You, the reader, will find Lord Mark Dawnton and Lady June Haywood, both fighting hard to squelch their mutual attraction, are so human that even though centuries divide you from the setting, identification happens with little cognizant provocation, and championing them, their families and friends is thoroughly automatic. Couple that with at least two cliffhangers, and the ending leaves you anxious for more answers and a deep sigh, knowing that now you have to get back to your real life.

I received this book for a honest review. I believe "The Skills of A Scoundrel" is the second book in the series. The patriarch of the family, the Duke of Wardington, plans a trap for his youngest son, Lord Mark to get married. He is determined to stay single. Lady June Dawnton, only wants to further her academics and be accepted by the ton. A secret from her past has soured her on marriage and separated her from her former friends. It's a fast paced story that makes you want to keep reading until you get to the end. There is a mystery running throughout the story which resolves itself and leads to secondary characters HEA. The author has many characters in her books which sometimes may be confusing to the current story, but as we know, are lead ins to other stories in the future. I enjoyed the story and will continue to read other books by Eleanor Meyers.

As I have always said, Eleanor Meyers has the gift of taking you back to a different time. Her characters and their backstory are interwoven in such a way that you never know what's next. This one resolved Mark, the genius that thought he could never find a woman to keep him interested enough to even give a thought to marriage. Well done, now I wait to see Dad's story!!

I like the characters and the plot. But, the writing is disjointed. There are too many times when it is unclear which character is being referred to in the writing. The story doesn't flow. Which takes away from the enjoyment. A good editor could correct this problem. With this correction I would give this novel 5 stars.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This is Mark's story in the Wardlington series. I was hesitant when I saw June was to be the heroine. She was not my favorite character from other stories in the series. However I warmed to her in this story and was really rooting for her by the end. I enjoyed the intrigue in this story as well as the storyline of smart women.
Here is why I dinged a half star...the Duke (Mark's father) has been working to win a bet with Abagail that necessitated marrying off Mark. I had hoped that Martin and Abagail would find their HEA at the end of this story. It seems we are going to have to wait. I do not see another whole story here. I did not Ding a whole star as I have been wrong where Eleanor Meyers has been concerned before.

Finally Mark gets his turn! So well written and full of his journey to find true love. Reading about this family and how they found love was such a wonderful adventure full of twists and turns. Eleanor is such a talented author. Her stories are packed full of thrills and sighs. I have learned so much about old London and the way the people thought and lived, a wonderful history. I highly recommend this book and all the others in the series. A pure delight to read and very hard to put down.

Loved, loved the book. The Chemistry between Lord Mark and Lady June was hot. Mark didn't know that he wanted a wife until he met the sassy, beautiful and intelligent Lady June. Mark is asked to tutor a Lady to see how much she can learn and Lady June was chosen. When she made a remark about his family he told her he no longer will teach her. She decides to leave the country to help her brother and is stopped before she boards the ship. Marks colleague decides to tutor June. Mark is jealous of this and the sparks keep coming. When June is injured in a fire she recovers at the Dukes residence. She finally confesses her sin to Mark after she has some bad dreams. Marks doesn't care what she has done in the past only that she has changed. Another awesome read from the author.

I loved the first two books in the series but this book was more about tying in other characters from the authors other books instead of concentrating on the main ones. I will not buy any more of this series. The main story was lost because of too many long introductions of other characters.
