- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2013First of all, read the product description before buying. It is exactly the size you are choosing. Many people keep complaining about it being too big or small.
Second, it is a nice size. I can fit what was in a bigger box that I carried in my backpack into this with less total volume leaving more space in my backpack. It has a pretty efficient storage method with the straps and makes carrying cables and such easy.
Here's what I have in there (with some extra room!):
1. Slightly smaller than average mouse (Perixx PERIMICE-307R, High Performance Mouse - Wired USB - Red - Gaming Stylish Design - 3.93"x2.40"x1.34" Dimension - Non-Programmable 5 Button - High Precision Blue LED - 800/1600 DPI Resolution - Works on Almost Every Surface).
2. 3ft Ethernet cord
3. Flash drive
4. Small portable speaker with cord(Monoprice Mini Rechargeable Portable Speaker)
5. Folding Gamepad with USB Mini to USB A cord(ION GO PAD Folding Computer Game Controller)
6. Samsung USB to wall adapter with USB A to USB Micro (Samsung Galaxy S2 Phone OEM Official Travel USB Charger (Detachable, comes with OEM USB to Micro USB Cable)!)
7. Pen, Mechanical pencil, Sharrpie in center "spine" section
8. Audio splitter cord (about 8in)
9. Pair of headphones
10. Velcro cord wraps
I still have the bottom 1/3 of the right side free and the front zipper pocket (will probably put a mousepad in there).
CONS
Like others have said, the elastic doesn't stretch much. This applies to both the cord bands and the pouches. They might just need to be worn in but you have to pull a little hard to get it to stretch if you're putting in bigger things. That said, if you break them in, they may not hold cords as well in the "stretched-out" spots but this is all speculation.
You are unlikely to fit a laptop power supply in here. They will fit but the bending you would have to do to your cord wouldn't be worth it. Also charger bricks tend to be pretty big so it would prevent you from using the other side since you wouldn't be able to close it. Haven't tried it with a Mac charger but I assume the brick would be too big in the other directions. To clarify, you can fit these things but it'd be a struggle, possible damaging if you have to bend your cords a bunch, and bulky.
CONCLUSION
Buy it if you think you want it, just check the volume and pre-plan your layout before buying (I ended up using less space than I expected so if it's cutting it close, it'll probably be alright, just check the thicknesses to make sure it'll close). It's a very nice case, has a handle if you want to carry it alone, and stores your stuff in an efficient manner.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2019After a lot of searching around for the right cable/accessory folio, I found this particular bag the absolute best for carrying everything I need.
The two upper mesh pockets allow for my portable hard drive, digital voice recorder, and their respective cables while the zipped lower one houses my various Macbook dongles and AV cables. The other side perfectly holds my large portable power bank and every USB cable I might need while traveling. I usually have an extra spot to bring along my powered USB charging bay as well.
I love that no space is spared with pen / USB key / 3.5mm audio converter holsters in the spine. There's even a zipper on the outside that I've used on occasion for the odd last-minute addition (and once my iPad Mini!)
This is the ideal carrier that makes airport security check-ins a breeze and ensures that you always have a bag packed for any tech-adjacent occasion.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2013Update: Yes it is poorly made. Deducted another 2 stars (from 3 to 1 star).
I bought a Roadwired Cable Stable a while back, probably around 10 years ago or longer. I travel a lot, and that thing lasted all this time. Sure it was a little dirty, discolored and I tore one of the mesh pockets a while back, but the usability hadn't changed in all that time. It was solid and dependable. Finally one of the elastic bands broke. I was heartbroken as that Cable Stable had probably traveled more than a million miles with me. Googled to buy another one and Roadwired is gone, wait, who the heck is Skooba?
Fast forward to me getting the new Cable Stable. First of all, the way the interior straps work means its not nearly as flexible as my old one and it holds less. Overall I dislike the new interior arrangement, seems to cater to small cables instead of being flexible so that I can put in what I need to put in. My iGo charger and accompanying cables/accessories doesn't really fit anymore without shoving, bulging and winding the cables into small little bundles.
Then neon green, really?
The overall construction of the case seems weak. Material feels like it will tear easily. Though it is lighter than the old one, so that is a plus. I expect the zippers will be a weak point.
Ok, maybe this is just the adjustment period. 3 stars till it goes on a few trips with me, but I would rather have my old Roadwired Cable Stable back.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2014I have multiple laptop bags/satchels/backpacks for work, business trips and vacations. I used to swap out a bunch of cables and adapters to and from each bag, or just buying multiple copies the cheap stuff where I lost track of how many micro USB cables I owned. I was directed to the Skooba from Wirecutter and it completely simplifies my life by centralizing all my accessory needs, so I just swap out the Skooba if I need to switch from my daily commuter bag to a suitcase. Speaking of suitcases, it's so much easier to just pull this one bag out to fit into a seat pocket or my lap before stowing the larger bag for say flying or driving long distances.
So far, I have stored in my Skooba: micro & mini usb cables, battery pack (Satechi), usb car charger (Anker), travel surge protector (Accell), aux cables, spare headphones, SD card reader (Sabrent), spare thumb drive, pen & pencil, all in the main compartment. Pretty much everything I ever need other than my laptop battery brick, which does fit in there, but I don't need to carry that all the time. There's also enough room to also stick in my e-reader, or even my 10" tablet if I wanted to use the Skooba as a mini laptop bag, since it comes with a handle.. I keep some lens wipes and assorted paperwork in the zipper compartment too. The only thing I wished it had was a lanyard for keys, but I can just keep those zippered up if needed.
Bottom line, if you're a gadget junkie like me, and have a ton of accessories to keep track of (like me), do yourself a favor and get one of these and get organized.

robin cReviewed in Canada on December 27, 20145.0 out of 5 stars Keeps everything tidy
Found that I had a huge mess of devices and cables when I was traveling so decided to look for something to keep everything neat and tidy. The Skooba fits the bill perfectly. I can keep my charges, battery pack, and cables all in one neat package.
Does not feel that sturdy so not sure how long it will last.
