Having been an avid user of Skullcandy for the past year and a half, I was more than eager to try their other headphone/earbud products. This is my first purchase other than the Ink'd earbuds and I have to say save your money and go for the $16 Ink'd earbuds. For me , these earbuds don't cut it. While the Ink'd required you to only turn your volume up to a bare minimum for clear awesome sound, these require you turn your volume up a bit more, even with the volume on the wires turned up all the way. The cable is a bit too long and can easily become snagged on something and ripped out of your ears. The cable is also very thin and more than likely, when caught on something, to rip apart easily. The sound of the Ink'd buds sounds clear and incredible, while on these, the sound presented is pretty generic and nothing special. If you listen to either of these sets, you can totaly tell the difference. I also have the Hesh brand headphones and am going to purchase the Skullcrusher set. I recommend you stick with the cheaper Ink'd buds than these things.

I recieved these for my birthday. I was using a pair of ipod buds on my sansa e250, but they were just painful after a few hours. Comfort on these is much better, but the sound was shockingly muffled at low volume (which I tend to use them at). It was if treble and midrange was filtered, like some kind of instant Dolby noise reduction. Awful. I immediatley went to the equalizer to try and "fix" the problem with no success.

Very disappointing and I would return them but I feel bad because my boys picked them out and I don't have the heart to tell them they're terrible.

Also, they look cool in the package, but when you get them in your hand the wires and build quality remind me of something you would get at the drugstore for 99 cents.

I go through regular earbuds at about a rate of 1 pair every 3 months. The flat wires on these are much better at standing up to the abuse I put them through. The sound quality is as good as you have come expect from Skullcandy: I use these for 5K & 10K runs, at the gym, crossfit workouts, mowing the lawn ...I don't need studio quality sound, but I *do* need clear sound and durability. These succeed where so many others have failed.

These aren't better than the skullcandy ink'd which are cheaper. They don't stay in your ears as well either. Do yourself a favor. Just go with the ink'd. They are cheap and effective and come in a buhzillion colors.

I ordered these headphones because I had another set of Skullcandy headphones which I loved. I read a review that said these had the best bass out there. Well, they have bass, but it isn't the best, in fact it distorts at even medium volume on an ipod, dominates the music, and almost completely drowns out some of the other frequencies. To get the headphones to sound balanced I have to use the decrease bass setting on the equalizer in my ipod. But the remaining sound just isn't as good as the other pair of Skullcandy headphones I had. Now, the sound isn't horrible, it is just way too bloated in the bass area. For those who listen to more hip-hop or bass heavy music these headphones might be more appropriate.

At a certain point, personal taste overrides other product performance issues. I have these Smokin' Buds which I thought would be better than the cheaper Ink'd edition from Skullcandy:

Skullcandy INK'd Earbuds S2INCZ-033 (Black/Black)

I thought they would be better because (LOL) the copy editors from Skullcandy made them sound better, and they cost more.

But guess what?

Skullcandy Ink'd remain my favorites. And I DO have a couple of mid-end earbuds too, Skullcandy just offers incredible value with the Ink'd.

In terms of sound quality, the Smokin' Buds seem a lot like my Griffin Ear Thumps - more bass, but slightly muffled mid range. The Ink'd are "clearer" to my ears.

These are very nice looking buds but thats where the praise stops. Sound has no depth or clarity. The ink'd sound alot better. No amount of burn in helped. The cable is flat which I like but it is so thin and frail feeling. My pair shorted out at the jack after 3 months of light use. The lifetime warranty is what kept it from 1 star. Sent mine in and upgraded. I would avoid these

I bought these because I had been told that the sounds was amazing... Well, there are 3 main issues with these, and the sound is included in there.

1)When I first put them into my ears, they were very uncomfortable. They did not stay in my ear, and the volume was very low. I assumed it was because of the size of the ear bud I was using, so I tried the others. There are 3 different size ear buds in all. They are Large, Medium and Small... And they are all terrible.
Large: These are WAY to big for me... I can't get them into my ear, or do anything with them at all.
Medium: These are ones that I have gotten to work the best, but the sound is way off. These just plain don't fit well in the ear. So the sound is not very direct and often sounds muffled.
Small: These I can get to work if I push them into my ear like Ear Plugs. And I would honestly be okay with this if not for these 3 problems.
1. They sound bad this way... Sound is the whole reason I bought them. (This is true for the Medium and Large ones too)
2. They don't stay in at all. Real ear plugs that you push in are generally made out of foam rubber, so they can stay in
your ear. These are not. So they slip out. (This is true for the Medium and Large ones too)
3. It is super uncomfortable. I can only have them in my ear for 20 minutes tops. (This is true for the Medium ones too)

2)***I have tried this with all 3 of the sizes*** These do not stay in your ears at all. I bought these to use at the gym and although I had hopes that I could also use them when I run, I had my doubts before I bought them due to their shape. So I just wanted them to use during my normal workout. These don't even stay in my ear when walking to grab my weights.
