James Garvin was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He has always been an avid reader and creator of strange stories since his youth. After moving to Texas, he got into playing AD&D and creating worlds and characters for his players to enjoy. His goal was to write fiction and make video games. The first story, Blood City Chronicles: The Black Petal, was well received by readers and is a good stepping stone into the character driven worlds he creates. A video game set in the Skullforge world is also in development.

This is the second installment in a fantasy series about an elf family called Cornerstone. In the first chapter, we meet Abraham, the patriarch. His headstrong daughter, Desinarious (Desi), is our main focus. She gets into trouble at court.

In this installment, we uncover the consequences of her rash action. She eventually ends up trying to save her area from bandits. In the process, she discovers the true warrior within herself. How will this fighter within become accepted by family and society when it finally shines through?

I enjoyed this chapter as much as I enjoyed the first chapter, even though fantasy is not my first love. This series is well written, creative, fun, easy and quick to read, and full of believable characters. In addition, the fight sequences are full of impressive detail.

Well, Garvin doesn't disappoint with chapter two. We learn more about the world we've stepped into thanks to our friendly narrator. We also learn he is much more than a narrator, he's more involved, but that just makes his tale-telling more intriguing. Desi's banishment in chapter one hasn't bothered her in the least and she looks forward to proving her prowess as a warrior/protector every day. The scenery, action scenes, and conversations of characters are all so enjoyable you realize when you finish that you're really still in your chair at home/work/commuting not in another world. Surprise. Another enjoyable chapter.

Desi's story continues in Chapter2. She's a skilled warrior and she inspires the admiration and respect of those who watch her. She earns the opportunity to take part in the Rite of E'argen, battling against her aunt, Dinah.

I enjoyed this exciting chapter. I love that we get more familiar with Sato, the narrator of this tale. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Chapter 2 does not disappoint! I devoured this chapter -- it was so fun seeing Desi in action and I can't wait to read more about the challenges she faces and her actions/reactions. The characters in this series are fully developed and authentic, and the fight scene is effective and really builds well.

In Chapter one, Desinarious Cornerstone or Desi has been exiled from Westmorland but her spirit cannot be quelled. Ana’Longa, where she is now living is being threatened by bandits. Desi has to prove herself worthy of protecting it by taking part in the E'al'mar ritual first. I don’t want to spoil the enjoyment of the readers by revealing anymore. Suffice to say you will continue to be thrilled as the chapters unfold.
I found the comments of the narrator quite entertaining; they add a refreshing dimension to the story. Roll on chapter 3!

THings get deeper, and Desi gets a little more fully fleshed and realized. The action sequences are well-paced and exciting. I only wish I didn't have to wait for chapter 3!
