Yeshe Tsogyel, consort of Guru Padmasambhava, is the most famous of the enlightened women of Tibet. Women have a special place in tantra, but except for Sky Dancer there are few writings that present the spiritual practices and evolution of female aspirants. Here women are in an eminent position, and a path of practice is given for present-day initiates to emulate. Keith Dowman has added a commentary on the path of inner tantra, woman and the dakini, and the Nyingma lineages.

This book is a beautifully written story describing the refined and intimate relationship between a teacher and student in the Buddhist tradition. The teacher, Yeshe Tsogyal, is well known in traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings. This book offers insight into her special life and her inter-relationship with her students. I have read this book several times and each time I read it I discover new layers of meaning. This book is probably better understood by tthose with some knowledge of Buddhism in general, and Tibetan Buddhism in particular. A very fine book.

Possibly the best book ever, a great mystical adventure story with deep meaning. Many esoteric Highest Yoga Tantra teachings can be discerned between the lines if you are an advanced practitioner with intuitive understandings...

This is very different from Yeshe Tsogyal's memoir "Lady of the Lotus Born," which focuses much more on her exoteric life experiences. Both are wonderful books; however, "Sky Dancer" requires a much higher level of practice on the part of the reader to get the most out of it. On the other hand, because it is so beautifully written, one can simply enjoy it without pushing oneself to understand every word. The book can and should be read many times. If the reader is a Buddhist practitioner, more will be understood as the reader's own level of practice continues to advance.

This is an unusual book. It does give some flavor of Tibetan literature and poetry. If you have an interest in learning about some of the legends associated with Tibetan Buddhism, do include this on your reading list.

Every woman should know about Yeshe Tsogyal. Here Keith Dowman has translated from Yeshe Tsogyal's own words, her story. Keith has also added rich commentary and further historical information. A must read for all interested in historical women and Buddhism.

a discrete work on Lady Yeshe Tsogyel. This is only a personal idea (and thus subject to correction..) but...less romance and more clear information could have been get this book more interesting. It is good, but considering it has also been written for a) western people with no detailed information about Her and b) people who wonder which practical application could have her path...if these info should have been reported, the optimus would have come as well (from me almost).

Perhaps all one would ever want to know about Yeshe Tsogyel -- probably the most important semi-historical female figure in Tibetan Buddhism. However, not a book for the casual reader. The author Keith Dowman always chooses meaty material.

This is a must book for those people who are interested in Buddhism and particularly followers of the Tibetan Tantric Path! It is not a general interest book, or a beginners "Find out about Buddhism"

1.0 out of 5 stars is a much better translation of the same text

Lady of the Lotus-Born: The Life and Enlightenment of Yeshe Tsogyal is a much better translation of the same text. I also did not like that the translator put his name has the author of the text which is confusing.

Still reading this book.....so good to have a book which relates a woman's spiritual path. Very in depth....deep reading....excellent information but suggest it may be best suited to Buddhist practitioners more familiar with the treatises spoken of. Highly recommend it thus far...
